The Film Thread

Logan. Brilliant, action-packed comic book stuff. A bit too mature for younger viewers given the level of violence and swearing.

Not Logan, but Logan Lucky - excellent crime caper film set in the deep South. Bit of a redneck Ocean's 11. Goes at quite a slow pace with not much "action" to speak of but that was actually quite refreshing after the set of trailers beforehand which were basically just endless comic book heroes shouting and shooting at things.

just saw this....pretty decent movie...the soundtrack is ace.

Whilst away decided to pick a random Sci Fi film and picked Sunshine, 10 years old but still worth a watch think of a less polished version of Interstellar.

Also started A Scanner Darkly but fell asleep would be interested to know if anyone else here has seen it and what they thought. looked messed up from what I saw not sure if I should give it another bash?

I have watched A Scanner Darkly. Huge fan of Blade Runner and have read some Phillip K Dick, so was kind of aware what to expect, and I am not adverse to the type of sci fi that makes you think. The visual style was very hard on the eyes, and that alone would have made it a difficult watch, but taking everything into consideration I would still have to conclude that it was an absolute pile of tosh.

Thanks for that, I think I will give it a miss then. Are you looking forward to the new Blade Runner?

Mixed feelings. Have deliberately avoided trailers. The likes of Prometheus and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have made me wary of such things...

Along with the remake of films such as Total Recall and Point Break in recent years coupled with Scott's ability to make 1 good film since Black Hawk Down (The Martian) I'm starting at a low point. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

I would add Oldboy to that list just a terrible remake

Try Blue Sunshine

I'm watching Hitman's Bodyguard tonight, I'm dead excited!

Agree 100%, watched the original again just the other day !
The original is epic, so dark and twisted I love it. The remake was just a dulled down Hollywood disappointment :(

Watching the 2005 'King Kong' remake - so unbelievably shit its actually laugh out loud funny

People falling in the sea then seconds later running through the forest (& dry) with no way they could have got out of there - key characters appearing at opportune moments having been nowhere near there seconds earlier & some of the worst dialogue I have heard for ages.

Can't believe I hadn't seen it before (actually I can as its rubbish)

IT. What a let down. Was expecting it to be quite scary. More comical than scary.

Alien Covenant.

What a mess. Atrocious plot, frustratingly dumb characters, ropey alien CGI, rubbish plot twist, comedic deaths (that aren't supposed to be comedic).

Absolutely terrible film. No idea what Ridley Scott was thinking.

Did you like the flute scene? I still can't believe how horrendous that was!!

Oh god, that was like a spoof!! The slipping on the pool of blood was the funniest bit though.
