The Film Thread

I watched Now You See Me 2 the other day. I really enjoyed the original and this one was very enjoyable as well. A lot of it is really quite nonsensical but a distracting couple of hours, even without Isla Fisher.

Gods of Egypt.

Oh my word.

I will try and do a proper review one day but suffice to say AVOID.

Just watched Arrival really liked it. Word of warning if you have kids I would make sure you have some tissues, bit of a tear jerker that one.

Kevin Hart, What Now. Part movie, part outdoor performance, but bloody hilarious

Finally saw Eye In the Sky.

Brilliant. Tense. Exciting. And a fitting last performance by Alan Rickman.

Major fuck up at the Oscars. Best Picture gets announced as La La Land, except Warren Beatty was given the envelope for the wrong category. They had to interrupt the acceptance speech to say, actually lads, Moonlight won not you.

How difficult is it to have on the card, Best Film.

There was an article on the BBC about who counts the votes and takes care of the cards. There's two of them that do it, each with a copy of them all. Fuck knows how they got mixed up.

Also Warren Beatty must be a bit of a melt. How hard is it to see that "Emma Stone, La La Land - Best Actress" isn't the category he's presenting.

The Founder.

True story about the guy who basically stole the McDonalds franchise from the 2 brothers who invented fast food. Very interesting.

Ray Croc?

Mark Knopfler did an awesome song about him - worth checking out. It's called 'Boom - Like That'.

I didn't know there was a film about that. I'll have to check it out. I remember reading a few articles about Ray Kroc/the McDonald brothers a few years ago and found it interesting. I'm weirdly fascinated by the origins of big companies like McDonalds, Coca Cola etc. I don't know if they've changed it now, but I don't think McDonalds used to have any mention of the brothers in their official history with Ray Kroc getting all the credit!

Watched Hell or High Water over the weekend. Was throughly bored. Can't see what people are raving about.

Rewatched the Lives of Others last night, after our trip the Stasi museum in Berlin. Brilliant film.

One of my favorite films, watched it twice on a long haul flight the once, have it on DVD as well.

Same here but I liked it. Decent film nothing more nothing less. Certainly not Oscar worthy though. Bridges and Pine were both good.
