The Film Thread

I really enjoyed Lunar Park. Odd, but good.

I'm about 1/2 way but haven't had much of a chance to get into it to be fair - I really enjoyed the prologue as it made so much sense to his writing during the early part of his career, then its dropped into fairly enjoyable Ellis literature.

Its the first one I've read his work for many years after suffering Glamorama, which just put me off him as a writer - just a lot of pointless guff. Given his state of mind at this time its understandable..

Same here. I hated Glamorama so much I forgot how much I liked some of his other books so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Lunar Park. I only read it because someone bought it for me but it then inspired me to go back and re-read his other books (not Glamorama, I never want to read that again!)

saw 10 cloverfield lane the other week. good film for me.

ive never seen american psycho mainly because i found the book very dull. iirc it even had a small chapter on phil collins. was there one on elton john as well? or was it madonna.

Recently shown a free streaming g site putlocker. One of several. Annoying pop ups but a lot of the latest films. Watched deadpool hateful 8 joy bone tomahawk 5 the wave all before release here. Subtitles too on some

Did you read it all! Its hardly dull but different strokes and all that.

Yeah I want to watch Cloverfield lane, it sounds pretty good and John Goodman is great when he's in a good roll (The Big Lebowski rather than the Flintstones) , it'll probably be a DVD watch for me though, as this weekend I'll be watching Zootopia with a family trip to the cinema

yeah, read it all. it was a long time back but for me once you've gone past, say, a couple of the very descriptive pieces of violence and, say, the first 5 times he writes in tedious detail what the protaganist's colleagues are wearing, then you have the idea of what that character is about. there was zero need to repeat the same thing over and over again seemingly with little purpose and without significantly advancing any sort of story. so imo it became very dull, very quickly.

i thought Goodman was very good in the film. plays an interesting character.

Fair enough, it was a seminal piece of literature for me, so its a shock to see someone describe it as boring, but I can understand (just about) where your coming from.

I'll have to put Cloverfield on the wish list.

then again I love dhalgren which is a big book that a lot of people would find boring too. so horses for courses!

Get Hard

Get Shit more like, fucking abysmal

worth watching for first 10 mins to see Alison Brie strolling around in her underwear after that just turn it off

Anyone who voluntarily watches anything with Kevin Hart in deserves everything they get.

Alison Brie though...

Zootrolpolis, a really good film! Probably a bit older subject matter for my kids (5&2) but me and the wife really enjoyed it!

The Intern. The blandest film I think I've ever seen. To think De Niro used to smash people's heads in with baseball bats.

Now I enjoyed that one. Yes very different role to his usual ones but still enjoyable I thought. Although probably more of a female film than a blokes.
