The Film Thread

:icon_lol:

First of all, yawn. Prequel hate is beyond a dead horse.

Yeah but Episode I was basically shite, Alan. After so much promise.

So far the whole thing just screams "JJ Abrams jerking off to the Original Trilogy" to me. And that lightsaber is still fucking stupid.

Isn't that what most of the people who are looking forward to Episode VII are also doing? And what's so wrong with that? One thing a trailer can't really show is the plot which obviously will be key - but I can only go on what's in the trailer, and it looks great. From what I gather, Episode VII will involve the old guard 'handing over' to the new, younger characters who will be the main focus of Episodes VIII and IX. I think it's quite exciting!

Lots of people were creaming themselves over the first prequel trailer in the same way as this one.

It all looked pretty standard fare to me but I've never been a big Star Wars fan. We'll see when it comes out.

All seem to be over excited by the sight of an old man and a massive teddy bear

Someone said they were in tears at the end when they came on screen.

FFS get a grip.

If said person was male I'd introduce them to Alan so he can get them a friends and family discount at the vasectomy clinic.

Reading that back it sounds a little too pointed. Not meant to be. I just have a lot of emotions when it comes to Star Wars (as do so many).

The prequels were SERIOUSLY fucking shit though. You must see this Alan?

I was 8 when TPM came out. My opinions are shaded as such. Shit romantic dialogue aside, I enjoy them just as much as the original three (bar Ep 6, which is my least favorite).

Only a week until Paddington is out here on DVD. Bloody loved that film at the cinema :)

I was eight when Empire Strikes Back came out. Fucking hell I feel old.

Watched Northern Soul last night on Sky, it might give the impression from the title that it's aimed at a particular genre and age group but it's a very good film and if you've enjoyed films like East is East i would give it a go.

I must have missed this post. I don't know what to say in reply. It's like comparing Jozy Altidore to Sergio Aguero.

Watched Scott Pilgrim Vs the World again last night. Still one of my all time favourite films.

Scott Pilgrim is ace. I watch bits of it regularly.

There's no accounting for taste!

I saw TPM in the cinema when it was released, I was 15. It didn't feel like a proper Star Wars movie, the new characters like Jar Jar Binks were fooking terrible.

My 5 year olds are massive Star Wars fans - we watched the trailer and when one of them, Fin, found out one of the main characters is called Finn I thought he would actually explode.

We're really looking forward to it now - hope it's a PG and not a 12 as I will have very disappointed kids.

I'm trying to pretend I'm only excited for them and not myself :)

Well quite.

The acting, dialogue and story are all vastly inferior to the original trilogy. When Anakin did eventually turn to the dark side it looked like it had been written by a 9 year old.

Angel Heart. How come its taken me so long to see this film. Thumbs up from me.
