The FIFA Debacle

FFS

FA continues to back Platini for Fifa presidency
Posted at 14:13
They have also reiterated their backing to Platini in his bid to become the next president of Fifa:

“The FA committed this summer to supporting Mr Platini in his bid to become the next President of FIFA.

"At The FA Board meeting last week, we decided that remained our position while inquiries into certain allegations were being investigated," they said in a statement.

“We now await the results of both the Ethics Committee inquiry and the investigation of the Swiss Attorney General.

"We note that Mr Platini has issued a strong statement protesting his innocence.”

It's just proof that FIFA is all about money. If the sponsors had not started rattling cages and put the fear of god up a number of big wage packets , the fat sloth would still be there.

Didn't the International Olympic Committee or whatever it's called have a total clear out?
They should do the same thing here. Just sack the lot of them and start over.
Shouldn't be so hard to do?

Interim president Houyate has been under investigation before and was removed from the IOC over bribery allegations. The interim head of UEFA from Spain is under investigation for refusing to cooperate with the investigation into the award of the 2018 and 2022 tournaments. Plus ca change...

Not entirely sure why a photoshopped picture requires this amount of analysis /boggle

I was analysing his poor rail journey planning rather than a wanky photoshop joke.

That cannot be the price of a one way ticket to Rugby surely?

Yep - but only off-peak so nice try Virgin, £48.00 for an anytime single, although I am sure Sepp could probably afford the £7624.00 for a season ticket! If not, like the rest of us he can go on the stop at all stations London Midland option!

Just when I think that pointless debate on TWF can't sink any lower.....

So the FA have suspended their support for Platini's presidential election.

And in other news, Sepp's defence of the 1.3m bung to Platini is:

Sepp Blatter has given interview to Swiss TV and described a £1.3m payment to Uefa president Michel Platini as "a gentleman's agreement".

The Fifa president said: "Everyone is against Sepp Blatter and it is not fair and not sporting."

aww, diddums?

South African (businessman and former Political Prisoner) Tokyo Sexwale is standing for the FIFA President role.

I hope he gets it, just because he has an utterly brilliant name
