The FIFA Debacle

So FIFA claim they instigated the investigation in November 2014?

Okaaaaay....

If that is the case

1) Why do the FBI say they have been investigating since 2011?
2) Why were arrests made on the most damaging day possible for FIFA?

Blatter is hugely damaged by this as the heads of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL are among the arrested, and those two federations had promised their block votes for Blatter in the election.

Also interesting to hear that Swiss authorities have a separate investigation into the award of the 2018 and 2022 world cups.

Reasons to be cheerful although I'm never that hopeful where these bunch of a-holes are concerned.

Nor me sadly. Blatter will no doubt be teflon-coated and others will take the fall.

Interesting statement from UEFA. They don't seem too impressed with FIFA.

I'd have thought that half the reason for pulling these guys in would be to try and get them to roll on Blatter etc.

Seems all the questions so far are coming from the British media. it'll be portrayed as a massive sour grapes conspiracy by the English.

The arrests and charges are brought by the FBI so I'm not sure how things could be spun that way.

A mere triviallity in Sepp's eyes, fair play to British Journo's and fair play to the Americans when our Police force was too timid.

Apparently the Swiss federal police have now opened their own investigation into the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bids.

US Fifa corruption inquiry covers bribes allegedly paid for 2010 World Cup in S Africa and Fifa presidency in 2011

As only Sepp was the only one up for the Presidency that year, why do you need to bribe someone to vote for the only person they can vote for?

Bribe people to assist in the removal of other candidates so it is a clear run for Sepp Blatter?

I can't remember if anyone put their name forward in 2011.

Might have been 1 but then he was found to be dodgy and wasn't allowed to stand I think. Either way, Seppy is being dragged into this. No doubt he will still win on Friday though

That might be the chap.

Off to Google I go...

Looks like he said he would stand, then backed out about 9 months before and just before Sepp won the vote! he was suspended and then later banned.

Possibly bribing people not to stand against him?

Extra page, motherfuckers.

I'd love it if they got some proper dirt on Blatter and he was really dragged into it. He'd still get away with it though.

Then his ban was overturned in the courts, so FIFA then re-banned him for a different offence.

I think it would be fucking hilarious if he gave out the women's world cup in Canada in about a month with smiling FBI agents waiting behind the podium ready to arrest the cunt and whisk him over the border.

Just to point out - the FBI and IRS are pushing this under the American RICO Act (Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organisations).

Being the head of an organisation who was "clean and knew nothing" isn't considered a defence for it happening on your watch in a RICO investigation. Hope you like life in a supermax, Sepp.
