The F1 Thread

Meh - its not really much different than the Wolves live chats just its live on a webcam his end.

He's an absolute tool if he does that. Mercedes are a joke of a team considering the resources they have.

And Vettel at No.8 in the greatest driver list :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

What a piss-take that numbering is. Alonso should definitely be above Vettel. As for the comment that "he may be a midge better than Senna" I can only assume that Gary Anderson was completely shitfaced when he made it!

As an aside - Alex Zanardi won a gold medal at the paralympics today. Brilliant for him

I've only just started reading it after finishing pissing myself with laughter, but that Senna comment has to be a complete joke. Blindingly quick driver but he shouldn't be above some of the names on that list.

I like how they finish the article saying that when he excels in an uncompetitive car etc he can really be classed as one of the greats, when Hamilton and Alonso out of the current crop have shown that ability but they are below him on the list....

I rate Jochen Rindt as a better driver than Vettel. I certainly also rate Lauda as a better driver too.

I can't comment on them as I've never seen them live, but Gilles from what I've watched/read/heard is the most talented driver ever. Extraordinary.

I forgot Gilles was below as well. That is just absolutely mental. Should be third behind Senna and Clark for me, with Schumi fourth.

McLaren - Hamilton to Mercedes deal is bollocks. Eddie Jordan stirring the shit once again, I believe

I think the bloke is a prized bellend, but he's generally pretty accurate with these sort of rumours.

I reckon there is probably something to it but not exactly 'nearly done' as EJ suggests. We shall see. Hamilton vs Rosberg would be very interesting.

Hamilton would smash him all over the shop. He's an immense driver, just a bit of a tit off the track.

Rosberg is good, but not in the same class as Hamilton.

Confident that Schumi is retiring, but I really can't see Lewis going to Mercedes. Massive step backward compared to McLaren. Could see Webber to Mercedes and Hamilton to Red Bull easily enough but would Vettel like the competition?

Rosberg had the chance to go to McLaren in 2010. I think he flatters to deceive and has overall been poor this season.

Webber has signed again for Red Bull. The only other option is Ferrari...

Hamilton and Alonso together again is like Cats and Dogs living together...

Now, Vettel and Alonso at Ferrari would be absolutely amazing. Massa could fit in at Mercedes too.

To summarise my little theory

Schumi to retirement

Massa to Mercedes

Vettel to Ferrari

Hamilton to Red Bull

Di Resta to McLaren

believable?

Gilles was astonishing. No-one else could be 11 seconds faster than everyone else in a wet practice session, including his team mate who'd just won the World Championship. No-one else could have won twice in that joke of a Ferrari in 1981.

I doubt there have been many better than Alain Prost, not spectular, but very consistent.

Prost was a superb driver and utterly deserving of his title as "le professeur". He was never a spectacular or thrilling driver like Villeneuve or Senna but he was the ultimate grinder-out of results. Underrated because he wasn't stylish, but absolutely worthy of a position high in the all time top ten.

When Prost hit the front, it was rare for him to be overtaken. Probably the best at defending his position.
