The F1 Thread

I don't think he would have spent long behind Lewis.
If Lewis had stayed out it would have been done quickly. Certainly don't think there would have been a couple of laps where he would have held Max up.

1 lap, or just any time likely would have been enough to protect Leclerc. In the end he spent 0 laps and pretty much no time in the dirtiest air behind Hamilton as they pitted him before any sort of battle commenced. The delay behind him, and more importantly life out the tyres would likely mean he catches Leclerc later and given he passed him on 54/56 isn’t a massive stretch to say it was far less likely to happen.

I would say the first opportunity Max had he would have left Lewis behind and it would have made zero difference to the end as it happened.

Will never know though but I think they made the right call on pitting him.

Maybe you're right, it's a 50/50 call. However the gamble was well worth it as the reward could've been huge for Lewis if the tyres of others either gave up, or had to handle a lap of rain at the end with hardly any grip left. The loss of a point and the potential rewards of many points was risk worth taking.

Definitely fucked it when they’re both getting disqualified

For different reasons. Impressive

Hamilton's is an area they were worried about in China and changed the ride height to avoid it.

Gasly also up for a disqualification as well.

Leclerc and Gasly both disqualified for their car being under weight

Lewis also disqualified.

Poor from Ferrari on his but similar to when he had the same issue at Merc. Sprint race catching them out on the prep of the car

If I drove an F1 car I think I'd also be disqualified for excessive skid wear

What time does the actual race start, uk time please.
https://raceday.watch/#sessions is your friend here. It converts the start time of every session of every racing series to your local time.

Interested in the Hyundai Excel Tasmanian Super Series? The Romainian Endurance Series? The Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour?

Yep, they have every two-bit racing series you can think of (and a load more you had no idea they existed) as well as the big ones like F1; and tells you where you can watch or listen to them.

I highly recommend signing up for a free account on there so you can filter out the irrelevant tat.

Thanks for that Law's, i'll give it a look.
However, the morning went a little awry.
8.30, up to pee(greek time)
Into the kitchen, kettle on tea and a couple of slices of hot buttered toast, not normal, a treat for race day.
8.50, hop into bed, still warm with a shitty grey day outside, tune into tv channel, only to find they were not showing the race, and neither were any of the other channels including satellite channels.
Loud grumpy fart, under the duvet, and sleep sulkily til 12 midday.
Hey ho 🙄

Thanks for that link. Will be very useful and wish I'd had it at Daytona earlier in the year and Sebring last week.

Makes a mockery of Horner's decision to choose Lawson over someone like Sainz or Tsunoda in the first place.

Think he was impressed by Lawson's move on Perez as it showed more determination than his number 2 driver had at the time. Personally, as talented as both Tsunoda and Lawson are, they are very similar IMO. Sainz would have been a far better choice but Verstappen probably wouldn't have enjoyed that. And, I don't really think Verstappen cares about the constructor's championship and the consequences for the team just as long as he has a competitive car.
