The F1 Thread

PGR 4 is awesome, especially online. Still play it now occasionally when I get incredibly fucked off by the idiots on F1 2010.

Absolutely gutted about this. I don't have Sky and nor do I intend too. Even if I did just for the sake of F1 what would be the point in still watching the BBC's coverage knowing I'm spending so much money for Sky's. I'm sure BBC have many calculations to prove it all makes some sense to them but it does seem odd that they would no longer continue their exclusive contract of a further 2 full seasons and instead favour 6 half seasons. Also find it strange that Autosport have an article about Bernie suggesting that Sky will grow F1's audience because it's in 10 million homes. What's that compared to BBC's then?.

I look forward to watching only half a season in the future. Ridiculous decision.

On bright side McLaren look OK this weekend again.

Well done the wankers at the beeb, got to save money so they ditch half the F1 races. Stupid move. They could have saved the money by cutting the wages of the overpaid presenters on their radio programmes

That wouldn't be a good thing normally :icon_lol:, but we need you up there for the rest of the season to stand any chance.

Temperatures set to rise tomorrow, which will suit the Ferrari's.

The races are just races, at least on the version I've got.

I don't and never have played online. Could be different on there.

I cant remember which one i had before but there were some races where the winner was decided on a combination of final place in the race and 'kudos' from flamboyant driving. I wasn't fan of the game, it looked pretty but didn't find it very realistic, prefer Forza, Dirt or Gran Turismo myself.

Yesterday BBC put up a blog to "explain" the situation http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/sporteditors/2011/07/f1_coverage_to_be_shared_betwe.html . It seems after thousands of comments (4600+ and mostly all negative If the few I've read at different times are anything to go by) they have now decided to remove the link from the F1 section. Only way I could find it again was because Jake Humphrey posted a link to it on twitter yesterday. BBC appear to be trying to avoid getting more comments on it which is a shame as it's the most commented on sports blog I've ever seen from BBC.

Murray Walker has also wrote a quick opinion on it on the daily mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Murray-Walker-F1-fans-suffer-new-TV-deal.html

Back to the racing. Good lap from Vettel but I was enjoying him not being on pole lately as the racings been very enjoyable without him at the front. He's a great driver though so fair play to him. Hopefully Lewis can get a good start or a late break into the first corner followed by Jenson.

Looks like we may have a nice changeable conditions race. The start is going to be fun

hamilton is bossing this race. button ahead of vettel helps the championship race too. what has happened to the red bulls in the last few races? they have totally lost their dominance.

Heidfelds car on fire as it leaves the pit. Nice explosion that hits a steward!!

It caught fire as he was leaving the pits, engine overheated. A scary moment for Heidfeld and the marshall.

Vettel might be a bit annoyed that the burnt out car was being dragged back down the pit lane as he was coming out

Vettel pitted and almost ran into the marshalls and remains of Heidfeld's car on the exit - the Red Bull was definitely out of shape. I don't think he expected them to be there.

Look how calm Heidfeld was though. Got out the car as if there was nowt wrong

just interviewed heidfeld.

"it was slightly scary as I could feel some temperature rise"

you were on fire FFS! These blokes are absolute loons!

I love the fact that Red Bull and McLaren are running different strategies

Well - Button and the Red Bulls are running different to Hamilton. Hamilton is going to be quicker but will need to stop again. Alonso on the same strategy as Hamilton. Fascinating stuff.

Vettel is having a terrible time, he is struggling to keep control of his car. At the moment he would probably settle for third place. Alonso going well.

At the moment it looks like the Hamilton strategy is wrong!
