The F1 Thread

Hotter next weekend and softer compounds. I think it might just be two stops minimum!

Are there any highlights programs on normal TV?

Found it, 11-45 tonight. Gives me something to watch on my night shift

Lewis nursed his Car around that Final lap

Mercedes-AMG F1
@MercedesAMGF1
So we were looking through the data from yesterday (don't @ us, we know we're nerds) and Lewis did 230 km/h down the Hangar Straight on the final lap... With three tyres.

Imola race weekend is a short one

Fri - Nothing
Sat - P1 & Quali
Sun - Race and get out of town.

So, the odd world of Covid-19 strikes again.

Perez got his Positive test last Thursday, so under the rules that started that day, he has to quarantine for 10 days. However, it appears as he was tested Wednesday his quarantine should be what the rules were on that day, so 7 days.
If he gets a negative test result today, it looks like he will race this weekend.

Poor Hulk, all that effort and pain and he gets to race 0 laps

Who with though, especially as Perez could lose his seat to Vettel so 2 good drivers but no seats unless they fancy driving the crap at the back in a Haas or Alfa (presuming either them bin their drivers...Haas should have binned Grosjean 2 years go)

Perez would be a very attractive option for a host of teams with his huge financial backing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him at Alfa alongside one of the Ferrari F2 boys.

and if by magic - Hulk confirms talks with a F1 team and the rumours are that is Haas

It would be amusing to see Magnussen and Hulkenberg as team mates. They hate each other!

So Perez tests again and a week later still positive. So Hulk back in the game

RP docked 15 points and fined for their dodgy brake ducts in the Styrian GP. Weirdly only reprimanded for also using them in the other ones.

So they have to change them or risk fines/points deductions after every race as Renault will complain if they are used?

Guessing the last 2 races were only reprimands as the decision from the Syrian GP has taken weeks to get answer at and it would be a little unfair to punish them for further races whilst the matter was being looked at. Guess the way round things for RP this weekend is to appeal the decision, meaning they will carry on using them

Ok, so this is odd

" a quirk of the ruling is that Racing Point are able to continue to use the brake ducts this year, as the penalty covers their use over the entire season"

So you shouldn't have put them on but carry on for the rest of the season and we won't do anything else

Probably because they are integral to a chunk of the design so binning them off would mean that loads of other bits suddenly don’t work.

If they have a car that has found to have broke the rules, then no races until you have one that doesn't or race but no points until you car is legal. Deducted 15 points but with 10 or so more races, they will get them back and more and their prize money will cover the fine and then some. Essentially rewarded to breaking the rules

All we are going to get now is Renault going in again. McLaren are pissed off this morning and Red Bull are getting a bt restless as they haven't moaned about another team for a couple of weeks.

Teams are not happy with the performance of the soft here and with temps only going to go up - it could be very interesting. They're dropping off markedly at the end of the lap and Leclerc's on the back of a run looked dreadful.
