The F1 Thread

Alonso isn't going to Red Bull after the criticism he's thrown Honda's way...

It would be very unlike red bull but I bet the thought of Alonso in their car would be very tempting if he showed an interest. My guess is he‘ won’t be in F1 next year. Gasly will probably get the RB drive and Sainz will replace Alonso

Alonso wants the triple crown. He will be in the States next year for sure.

I’m really interested to see how Ricciardo goes against Hulkenburg, hope Renault make a step up. I suppose with Red Bull switching to Honda there’s a chance they won’t be as competitive

Consortium led by Laurence Stroll taking over Force India.

Countdown to Lance Stroll joining begins...

Alonso quitting F1 at the end of the season.

A man who should have more than 2 World Championships to his name. Shame he left Ferrari when he did and moved to the clusterfuck that is McLaren

That's the end of an era, although I think that's the right choice to be honest in the circumstances.

A case of what could have been, but still a quite spectacular driver.

Just a shame he wasted the end of his career driving a dodgy Honda Civic around various F1 tracks. Spent his Ferrari years dragging a poor car around and getting some outstanding results, he leaves and they improve.

Hope he gets the Indy500 win he wants next year

I still think McLaren should have been sensible in 2007 and made him number 1 driver over Lewis to make sure they won it, they took enough points off each other in the end which allowed Kimi to win it. Agree he shouldn’t have left Ferrari but they’ve still not won anything tbf.

Sainz confirmed at McLaren on a multi-year deal.

WEC at Silverstone is absolutely superb.

Full access to the pitlane and paddock. Met Fernando, Buemi, Conway and Nakajima coming out of their motorhome. Autograph session in the pits - photos/chats with Pastor, Fisichella, Giedo van der Garde, Nyck De Vries and plenty more.

Quite possibly the worst crash I've ever seen in IndyCar tonight. Absolutely horrific.

Gasly at Red Bull confirmed. Sounds as if Perez will sign on again at FI, so Ocon is suddenly scrabbling for a seat.

Force India are now called Racing Point Force India.

All Championship points earned this season have been wiped as well

Christ that was a massive accident. Leclerc must be very grateful for the halo system right about now.

Awful race though. F1 needs to change if Spa can be made boring.

Today it was all about engine use. Lewis has now used his 3 full units so what he has in the car now needs to get him to the end of season. So shit to then watch a car basically give up challenging to save the engine. Hamilton looks hugely fucked off at the end.

The crappy tyres and engine regs mean we get a few minor battles up front and then it just settles into nothing, another blast around pit stops and then back to nothing.
