Having last years ferrari engine isnt great for sauber either though. If Honda ever did sort themselves out at least they would have an up to date engine. Massive if though.

Could Bottas actually be a title challenger (penalty for this race notwithstanding - and if you were to pick one race where you'd take a drop this would be it, being as it's quite feasible to make up loads of places)? I didn't think he'd be anywhere near, just a solid Barrichello type, but he's been pretty good lately.

And if he starts to be the main contender to Seb, would Merc be forced to tell Lewis that he needs to defer...

Bottas is good, but he's not at Lewis's level. Bar a freak season like last year he won't get close.

He has benefited from the last 2 races (Lewis' head rest issue and grid pen). Merc don't generally pick a number 1 driver as their main target is the constructers title. I think they would only instruct Lewis to play the team game if he couldn't win the title (mainly as he would ignore them anyway).

Bottas is quick and extremely reliable/solid. Don't think he'll get close enough to the title unless Lewis has continuous bad luck like last year but he's not as far off Hamilton as I thought he'd be but probably only been genuinely quicker at one race this season
