The Definitive TWF World XI thread (1986-present) - CENTRE FORWARD VOTING OPEN

I've been deliberating this for an entire day now. Zanetti or Lahm, Zanetti or Lahm (never let it be said I don't make the best use of my time). Really, really hard to pick between the pair. But eventually:

Javier Zanetti
Philipp Lahm
Lilian Thuram

Sorry Phil.

I reckon you could play either in either full back spot

By the way - anyone who missed the keepers and wants to join in, do so. You don't need to participate in every round, every vote counts.

That's good because I can't as away from Weds till next Monday

Lahm
Cafu
Thuram

A few folk have gone for neville, I always thought him a solid right back but never spectacular in the way Zanetti, lahm et all are. What am I missing?

I suppose RB is one of those positions where reliability is the key more than anything else. I mean look at us when we binned Ricketts off and put Doherty there.

G-Nev was rock solid for the thick end of 15 years and had a great link up with Becks.

To contradict myself slightly I tried to think of a better right back in the premier league ever and couldn't.

It could be he made it look easy so didn't really get the credit he deserved.

He was consistently solid in the years from 97 -2010, his reading of the game, his crossing and set pieces and his overlaps on that wing when Utd bombed forward were the best in the PL for the majority of his career.

Philip Lahm
Lilian Thuram
Cafu

The Neviller's delivery would put most wingers to shame, as well as being ridiculously dependable defensively. He was a really good footballer, and loaded with game intelligence

Not much real choice at right back. So I will go with the flow

Cafu
Zanetti
Thuram

1. Lahm
2. Thuram
3. Cafu

I loved Thuram, but it's difficult to see past Lahm. He has been an unbelievable servant for Bayern and Germany. Wonderful little player.
