Ok, wide forwards open - six picks again as two go through. Open for the rest of today and all of Sunday.

As ever, a reasonable proportion of the career must have been spent as one of the wider men in a front three or as an orthodox winger. So Marc Overmars is fine, Luis Suarez is fine...just don't go trying to cram Shearer, Kane, Gerrard, Del Piero etc out there.

Mods, title please as ever, much appreciated.

So many good names on that list.

Not sure how I feel about Iniesta making the cut while Xavi misses out, though.

Cristiano Ronaldo
Lionel Messi
Thierry Henry
David Beckham
Thomas Müller
Eden Hazard

Pavel Nedved
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldinho
Lionel Messi
Hristo Stoichkov
Arjen Robben

Incidentally I'm sure Iniesta is going to be unique in this team; won through despite getting 0 first choice votes.

Ronaldinho
Ronaldo
Messi
Pires
Giggs
Hazard

Anyone over 40 that didn't pick Maradona in their top 2 is quite frankly deluded

I think it's an outrage Diego maradona didn't get in! https://youtu.be/YBCq8XDgrP0

Anyway,

Cristiano ronaldo
Leo messi
Hristo stoichkov
Ronaldinho
Luis figo
Ryan giggs

We remember the hand of god 1986. Never forgiven! I liked him better before 86. It was downhill all the way after that. If the team had been from 1982 onwards he was a shoe in. Gazza is similar. Great talent just fucked up through alcohol. Hence why I couldn't pick either.

Messi
Ronaldinho
C. Ronaldo
Robben
David Beckham
Ozil (am I allowed him since he played on the right for Madrid a fair bit? I just love him, okay?)

Ozil (am I allowed him since he played on the right for Madrid a fair bit? I just love him, okay?)

Plays on the left a lot for Arsenal now so yeah, he's fine.

On Maradona; in terms of raw talent, yeah, it's a travesty he missed out.

However:

a) He had his final good season ever when he was 28, and that in turn is 27-28 years ago now
b) He was a bloated, coked up mess for years after that
c) He played in two World Cups after said final good season, wasn't very good in one and got booted out of another
d) His peak came at a time when access to foreign football was as good as non-existent; so while he was single-handedly dragging Napoli to titles and European triumphs, no bugger could possibly have seen it. When there was a bit more shown, he'd already left Serie A and then was shite for Sevilla for a season

Which means you're basically down to people who properly remember Mexico 86, and it's a bloody long time ago now. I'm not young, there are plenty of people voting here who are younger than me, and I don't remember it. I was 5 and the games were played late at night.

And if we went purely off video clips etc and extended the timeframe backwards indefinitely, Cruyff was better ;)

Lionel Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldinho
Luis Figo
Pavel Nedved
Neymar

Hurts to leave Beckham and Giggs out.

Beckham as a wide forward is a bit of a stretch!
