I'm never having Bethell as our number 3. We took Pope out of county cricket where he batted 5 or 6, and shoved him at 3 and let him drift along and fail. Now we've taken someone with no red ball record and put him there.

I know the Aussie attack is seriously depleted [it has been all/most of the series] but who’d have thought that “sensible’’ batting would be the best way to play in a test match!
Ironically we have still scored at nearly five an over, almost the same as having a big BazBall heave each over and five plays and misses.
