The Cricket Thread

Only 50 for me - 2003/4 and 2008-10 were complete dead zones for my brain
I was at Headingley in 2008 to watch Darren Pattinson's one and only game :D

Great selection guys. Memory might be off but Hoggard was bowling well after a winter crisis and I think Simon Jones was actually fit for once too. No, let's pick some random Aussie and the captain doesn't even know who he is.

Also got sunburnt despite it being overcast all day and watched Ashwell Prince and AB De Villiers rack up a massive score. Top day all round!

I actually remembered him but couldn’t bloody spell it 😂

We’ve made some god awful selections over the years

It's not even two years since we left Anderson and Broad at home to play Matt Fisher...

I also saw in person Aftab Habib in 1999 and Sunglasses Ed Smith in 2003. I'm a magnet for shite England cricketers even more than shite Wolves players.

I saw Smith at Trent Bridge in 2003. He came in after Butcher was dismissed for a ton with Hussain also racking up a century. He'd been in ridiculous form that summer (Smith).

Yeah, we totally went with a purple patch. Think Bell was struggling a little bit that year, he was earmarked for selection as early as 2002 but didn't actually play until 2004 vs Windies right at the end of the summer.

Worst Test XI I reckon since Jimmy debuted:

Roy
Lyth
Westley
Vince
Morgan
McGrath
Bracey
Blackwell
Ball
Fisher
Khan

There are sooo many openers you could choose..

I went Roy as he's basically never even done it for Surrey in FC cricket. So stupid. In the bloody Ashes too.

Lyth managed to average 20 despite having a century in his 13 Test innings. 158 runs in the other 12.

India win the toss and will bat. Not seen the pitch yet as I was away from the telly.

I’d say that’s a very decent effort by the bowlers on this pitch.

It’s been the A1. I’m sure BCCI will expect it to break on day three as they like wickets to favour them

That's what you want from a pitch though really isn't it. Offers more to the bowlers (especially spinners) as the match progresses.

It rather depends how much it breaks. Featherbeds do nobody any favours but if it suddenly cracks at the top in Englands first innings that’s a problem. It seems very placid just now. I will hopefully watch the first session tomorrow but we have guests
