So true!Just the nature of modern tours sadly. The host nation won't give you warm-up games that are worth anything.
Plus obviously there are better golf courses in Abu Dhabi.
Harmison falls into that odd bunch that are surprisingly good on comms when every expectation you have is that they'll be terrible. I think Tuffnel was [although I'm sure there were others before him that don't spring to mind right now] the first that made me think 'I wasn't expecting that'.Obviously it's a terrible radio station in general but their live comms tend to be ok. Harmison was on last time I listened (ODIs vs SA last year I think) and he's fine.
Matthew Hayden seems like a really nice guy, but was a total wanker when he playedHarmison falls into that odd bunch that are surprisingly good on comms when every expectation you have is that they'll be terrible. I'm with you, but now we've created that problem with Pope (plus neither Root nor Brook want to bat at #3), who misses out?I'd imagine Bangladesh would have happily given us a one off Test if we'd wanted one. Sharma pretty much said in SA that they are going to prepare extreme turners. Foakes has to play.
I'm sure you will have heard Bhogle, he's an appaling BCCI stooge.Fans will be in safe hands with multiple award-winning presenters and pundits providing them with all the coverage and content from the series. England legends David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, Steve Harmison, Darren Gough, Kevin Pietersen, Alex Tudor and Gareth Batty will be on hand alongside star of The Hundred, Phoebe Graham, to deliver quality commentary with statistical analysis provided by CricViz. talkSPORT’s cricket Editor Jon Norman will also be delivering expert analysis, as will cricket commentators Harsha Bhogle, Neil Manthorp, Jarrod Kimber, Andrew McKenna and Chetan Narula.
I know I'll end up listening but I'm not keen on most of the names above. I'll give Bhogle and Narula a pass as I'm not sure if I've heard them yet but the likes of Kimber and Pietersen will have me reaching for the off button.
78If Pope HAS to play then Bairstow is the one I'd not pick. It'll be all different by the 3rd Test anyway
