The Cricket Thread

From what I can tell from the new season fixture release the Bears have dropped the Birmingham part from their name. It's 10 years since they had to adopt it, so if true I assume the agreement lasted for a decade.

First ODI vs WI today, I'll only be dipping in and out with the football. Won the toss and batting first.

Jacks
Salt
Crawley
Duckett
Brook
Buttler
Livingstone
Curran
Carse
Rehan
Atkinson

325ao (on the last ball, so batted the full 50)

Brook 71
Crawley 48
Salt 45

Should be plenty

West Indies need 112 off 11 overs with 5 wickets left

Jumped in and out but Rehan has done really well

Curran has been bloody awful though

Cost us the game with some terrible stuff. Can't pick him at the moment, looks like a bad club level bowler.

The priority over the next season needs to be find a competent fast bowling unit, because at the moment I'm not sure we have 1 player

ODI wise (not that we play any after next week until September) then it's all up for grabs

At home in Tests this summer then Anderson/Woakes/Wood/Potts/Tongue/Robinson/Atkinson is what we'll build around, and we'll see if Stokes can bowl again

Unchanged team (Curran is very lucky) and WI are 21/2 after 5 overs

Redeeming himself with three wickets so far. 27/4.

I saw someone say Dawson and Jacks turned it down? No idea if that’s true though

Dawson doesn't have a central contract and has already signed T20 deals for the winter, he's already said that he might turn down any call up.

His Big Bash deal is only for the first few games and as per the above Tweet he didn't turn it down because he wasn't asked, so we'll not know whether he would have given up his SA contract or not. I wouldn't blame him for knocking them back, he should have been asked

If we only play two spinners then it'd be likely to be Leach and Rehan regardless, he certainly wouldn't want to go to carry drinks.

He'd be match fees only if he did get called up and they wouldn't get near covering his SA20 contract.

Pretty much never going to play in home games so not as if he'd be turning down immediate good money for a Test match future.

Looks like we've seen sense and Woakes will be home Tests only from now on.
