Brainless to bowl anything at him that isn't over hip height and straight, he can't move

Remarkable innings. Afghanistan author's of their own downfall post the cramp though

This is where it all went wrong.

We played pretty well bar what's become a familiar middle order slump.

Thing is we really should have chased what Afghanistan, India and Australia set us and be well placed to go through.

Yes, someone qualifying with 4 defeats is 1 more than I thought you'd be able to afford at the start of the tournament

On the quiet, some of the attack are ending up with ok figures:

Topley 8 wickets @ 22.87
Willey 8 wickets @ 25.37
Rashid 13 wickets @ 27.53
Woakes 9 wickets @ 30.11

All perfectly fine.

It's the batting - Malan and Stokes average 46 and 44 apiece which is what you'd want/expect, but everyone else has been a disaster (Root maybe gets a partial pass for his first two innings, but it's been grim since). Bairstow, Buttler, Moeen and Livingstone don't even average 20.

Bizarrely Wood has bowled the most Despite going at 6.5 an over averaging just shy of 60.

IMO most of England's problems have stemmed from poor Captaincy and poor selection esp. batters.
People trying to knock the cover off every ball in a 50 over match, whatever the conditions was brainless. Ironically our most aggressive batsman, Stokes, showed how it should be done in his last innings, v Netherlands.

The Sri Lankan side must have a party to get to later. 70 for 4 after nine overs and that includes a wicket maiden. Perrera has a 50 off 25 balls.

Yeah the rest of it isn’t too bad, makes sense to get Pope, Duckett and Crawley involved but Livingstone is a waste
