The Cricket Thread

Waiting for the inevitable, and dull, 16.4 gag

It’s a great finish to a great series. I won’t be staying up half the night for the hundred though, that is for sure.

Aussie media seems to be focusing on the fact the ball was changed that caused them to lose. Peter Lalor being the biggest advocate of this which is no surprise.

We definitely got lucky with the ball change tbf, went from a scuffed up dead thing to a shiny one that looked way newer and was hooping round corners

Australian telly coverage didn’t even consider it to be much of an issue. Punter has always been a whinging tosspot.

If they’d wanted it scuffed up a bit I’m sure they could have found some sandpaper down a sock or under a hat.

This is probably gonna go down like a fart in the Vestry but the Hundred starts tomorrow and I love it, yeah I know philistine.
My only interest has been in how truly terrible the Welsh Dire can actually be, and I suspect they're not even going to fulfil that part of the bargain this year.

I quite like our domestic T20, I just watched a tournament of it. Not sure I need another one where this time I care about no-one at all and there's zero narrative.

The problem for me is my county just won the T20 being fucking ace and in this competition don’t exist and are expected to get on board with someone else.

Yes I know Welsh fire, Paddy is Welsh etc etc etc but my dad was from Somerset (born in Bath) and Welsh fire is basically a Glamorgan franchise. Somerset should have had their own. Until that is addressed the Hundred will be of no interest to me.

Worcestershire for me so no hundred interest either. Supporting Birmingham is like asking a Wolves fan to support Albion, Blues or Villa. Casual glance at the results maybe, supporting it no.

Looking good for the Rockets, really didn’t think we had enough on the board at all.

Bowlers are really putting in a shift.

I’m very simplistic with cricket and enjoy a good battle between bat and ball so I’ll watch any format.

Surely “Bazball” was born out of limited over cricket, I’ve enjoyed the white ball game for years, I was in Australia a fair few years ago when they played in their first T20 against New Zealand, it was all very patronising from the pundits, now look at the Big Bash.
I can remember one day games here from the late sixties I think, it used to be on BBC 2 on a Sunday afternoon and I think it was called the John Player League.

Yes. The point is one day cricket was absolutely fine and we already had a successful T20 format.

This whole extra competition wasn’t needed and asking British fans to lap up franchises doesn’t bloody work.

About the ball? There was one occasion during the series where Australia got a replacement ball that swung all over the place. I bet they weren’t complaining at tea on the last day when they were overwhelming favourites to win. I think that England had gone out to 6’s on the betting exchanges.
