The Cricket Thread

Going to be a little while as the last annoying drizzle bit fucks off. Sanity would suggest early lunch at 12.30 while the ground staff get shit ready to minimise over losses.

Opportunity was yesterday really 30 overs only taking 1 wicket. We’ll get some play today weather is enough I’m not sure.

Just watching a bit of the golf at Hoylake. Which is about 45 miles west of Old Trafford.
It's a bit grey and miserable but it doesn't seem to be actually raining...
And that's the direction it's coming from.

It's coming from the north today isn't it? Not the west.

Actually yes, wind today coming out of the North. (NNW) and it's forecasted to rain and rain and hard rain right through till 5am tomorrow.
Shame.

The main belt is sitting in North Lancs/Yorkshire/Cumbria and coming down, we aren't getting it off the Irish Sea like we were yesterday:

Of course this is irrelevant, it's just raining, wherever it's from :D

You absolutely are getting off the Irish Sea. I have animated weather radar on my app and have watched it all day Australian time. Manchester was on the bottom of that rain area at 3 am and it still is. The whole thing is moving west to east.

According to the met office radar, it's a belt sat across the British Isles slowly moving from NNW to SSE.

TMS pretty much saying they’ll be amazed if a ball is bowled today. Really horrible way to lose the ashes and totally undeserved.

Well, we haven't lost unless we fail to win at The Oval.

Retaining it with a draw is properly hollow, I'm not too bothered about that. If they beat us 2-1 or 3-1 (with the obvious aid of the weather here, as we clearly would have won) then fair enough.

It’s a bit shit and test cricket doesn’t help itself sometimes with stupid regs and rules, but at the same time if you lose the first two then you’re up against it and this can always happen. Particularly in the NW in this country.

Second innings at Edgbaston (no 50s from anyone in blameless conditions) and first innings at Lord's (188/1 to 325 ao, completely lost composure) were total blunders on our part. You might get away with one, not both.

Bloody weather. We’d have got no play here in Wolves yesterday but we’d have probably got near enough a full day today. 60 miles north and we’ve managed 30 overs in the same period.
