The Cricket Thread

Barely a chance tbh, I wouldn't be counting that. Same as the Crawley one at slip a few overs ago.

What's a top class umpire require to give a decision? Heard that from sofa.

Think this set (when Dharmasena isn't on field) are happy to bottle it and hope DRS bails them out. It's a low standard.

Also if it's so dark that we can't use the pace bowlers why is the one umpire still wearing sunglasses?
And it's definitely no darker than when they made us play at Edgbaston, when it was also raining, and we were about 20/2 in the one half hour of the entire game when it swung.

Yep that looked really dark but up have no problem with it. We play in pitch black with the same floodlights (different ball, yeah whatver). Think changing to spin helped us anyway and Green looks like he’s going to get out every ball. Hope they allow the quicks back on end of the day with the new ball though.

I don’t see any more play today. Drying up after 630 from the radar I’ve seen.

The radars make no sense. Earlier ior said it was going toin when it didn’t and the met office one now saying it’s dry from 5:30 onwards

On umpires, I'd do away with the neutral thing now that we have DRS. Not like you can get ridiculous homer decisions like you did 30 years ago. Just pick the best ones, wherever they're from.
Yes they were only bought in because of the match fixing/betting/cheating.
Now that has been virtually eradicated by DRS neutral umpires are unnecessary.

Massive band of slow moving rain across northern Britain, currently stops just behind the sightscreen at Old Trafford come 11:00. How’s our luck?

The Met office one is telling me it’s going to hose it down all day! How Can all these sources use the same info and get wildly different results

Because the Met office is a forecast and a weather radar is what is actually happening?

I don’t mean that to sound sarky but that might explain it?

The best one I have used is netweather. Usually has been pretty accurate. I doubt they can start on time. The rain was very heavy indeed around 4am

Rain Today has been my go-to app for years. Important for my fishing requirements and accurate down to local levels. Pretty simple to work out what’s about to happen in the hour or two ahead in the UK outside of thunderstorms cropping up.

Speaking to one of the lads I know who's able to read a weather map. He reckons the rain will have been blown past by about 12.30. I've no idea either way but I'll cling to that hope.

All I can tell you is there has been no rain here (Co. Wicklow) since 07.00. very similar to yesterday, brighter if anything. Hope it's on the way to Old Trafford!
