Baz ball…
But we'd got to 91/0 playing attacking shots, but nothing reckless. And he wasn't even trying to hit a boundary off that one, just wandered down the pitch for no reason.

Don’t have to tell me. Was brainless batting at times in the last test but just seems to get defended as “rough with the smooth”.

I watched up until about 2:40, think dismissal was just after this. We were super comfortbale and going at a decent rate. Don’t think there was a single chance apart from the stumping and reverse sweep which aren’t chances. So this brainless batting is a gift to a team who aren’t looking a threat on a dead pitch.

I doubt it will be dead in the 4th innings against Lyon so we need as many runs as we can in this innings in a match we can’t afford to lose.

Duckett leaves a ball for the first time in the series!

The only reason we were in a position to win the first test was due to way we put runs onto the board quickly. By rights, scoring at a more ordinary rate would have meant that the game was a draw due to the time lost. We have to win tests to win back the Ashes so you can defend the approach as we were in a position to win the game (the Aussies were at 10/1) when Carey was dismissed. I'd take bowling at 9,10, jack every time with 50+ runs needed to win a game.

This test has a different feel to it and we will just have to accumulate as many runs as is possible to have a chance.

I agree to an extent but it was the second innings that was the problem. We could easily have been all out with a lead of just over 200 and definitely lost. We also had to slow down and dig in a bit because we were in deep shit from our own stupidity. If we weren’t stupid we could have in the long run of that innings scored more runs in less time whilst also then having the feel of more momentum in the game.

At the end of the day we’ve lost a test which now makes wining the series more difficult.

Yep. No 50s on that pitch in the second dig was criminal, and nearly everyone bar the top three (the openers had to bat in the only bowler-friendly conditions in the entire game and we arguably shouldn't have even been playing, Pope got a cracker of a ball) got themselves out needlessly.

That could be Lyon done for the series.

This field is working perfectly for Aus. They know we ain't got the patience to just duck under them so we'll lob balls straight to their fielder eventually.

I'm not going to be too harsh when we're 217/3 with arguably our two best players at the crease and Stokes and Bairstow to come.

It's bad execution more than anything.

It is bad execution and that’s what makes it so annoying
