With Lyon off the field the plan at tea should have been to keep the Aussie fast bowlers in the field for as long as possible. Not only were you going to knacker them out for this test but possibly for the ones to follow too. I wouldn’t wish injury on any bowler but there is that chance too if they are having to do too much work. I won’t lie but I would have bitten your hand off at the start of the day if offered the scores as they are now but it still is a missed opportunity. Hopefully Stokes, Brook and Bairstow can get us up to at least parity as there isn’t much to follow after them.

Given where Australia are with their fitness I think if we're within 50 runs I'd make us favourites.

I think we'll get parity or there abouts.

Someone convince me this isn't grounded by Smith, im not normally a sore loser, but this has pissed me off big time.

The ball slides along the ground for several inches. He had it firmly in his hand but didn't have fingers under the ball. This wasn't one of those catches where alternative tv angles make the catch look different, like those caught behind when they check whether they've carried.
So the basis of what we saw, I wouldn't have given it.

I’ve just looked at it on the bbc sport page and I think that his little finger, not shown in the image above, is under the ball. I’d have given it.

Don't get me wrong, we've benefitted from this type of decision before ourselves and I'm certainly not calling Smith [in this instance] or the Aussie's [in this instance] a cheat. But if part of the ball touches the ground it's not out and a single little finger the other side could be under it but a significant part of the ball this side is in contact with the ground.

Suppose the difference in opinion shows how objective it is, the ball looks in contact with the floor to me, but I've opened the bottle and moved on a little, thanks for replies.

I thought it touched the ground too.
The contact with the ground helped him get a better grip on the ball which he then clutched to his chest.

Even then, when he did clutch it to his chest, it wasn't in his hands, just trapped by his forearm. No way he controlled the catch without the assistance of the ground.

I fucking hate the cheating cunt

Compared to the position at the close yesterday today has been much better. We should probably be 2 wickets better off mind and be in a strong position to take a lead.
Similar scenario to the first is that this will probably become a second innings shootout again.

Huge morning coming up if the weather is the same in London as it is here it’s a good bowling day. At the bare minimum we should be getting to within 30-50 runs of their total but ideally we can get some sort of lead.

Thats fine then, we just need to decide how to play the short ball
