The Cricket Thread

It doesn’t have to be either extreme. They’ve got 4-5 men on the boundary FFS. You can get run a ball without trying. Then they don’t know what to do, bring people in and get spanked around or leave them back and have no real wicket taking threat. They didn’t need a threat as we handed it them, they didn’t have to work for it.

This is my frustration, Australia haven't even had to bowl that well to get us 8 down.

You just cannot reverse scoop Pat Cummins and hit Lyon for six. Absolutely mental.

I can't help but think that's a very brave declaration. Think we're short of where we should have been.

Get a few nervy overs at the Aussies I’m thinking still feels a bit fool hardy

If we get two wickets this evening I'm wrong, but declaring when runs were coming easily and losing ten minutes anyway for a change of innings seems an odd declaration.
The approach is admirable but could be better still with a touch of 'normal' thinking added in.

I sort of understand wanting to have a go for half an hour and take the game to them, especially with the prospect of rain overnight/a cloudy day tomorrow which will favour England’s bowlers

I guess if we get one of their top batsmen then that equates to sacrificing Root’s wicket.

Christ some of you lot are fucking negative. That’s been a good day.
I think we're 50 short on that wicket and the attacking declaration probably means we are 30 runs worse off first thing tomorrow than we might have been (14-0 them and we may have added say another 16). However I thought the declaration was a great thing to do, surprised me so I'd imagine it surprised the Aussie openers as well 😀.
I like the way we are approaching the game these days, great entertainment. Could be a great series. My worry for England would be Jimmy and Broady keeping going for five tests in six weeks particularly now Leach is out. Doubt we can rely on Stokes too much with his knee problems. Big ask.

You think 450 is par? Really?

Still doesn’t trump Ben Stokes catch at Trent Bridge in 2015
