Woakes generally is fine overseas in ODIs. 79 wickets @ 31.15 away compared to 66 @ 28.30 at home. A very poor outing today obviously. But then again he only replaced Willey who offers absolutely nothing.
Remains to be seen if Topley's good form at home last summer was just a one off as otherwise at international level he hasn't looked good enough. I wish we weren't so obsessed with left armers, if we have a good one then great, pick them, if not then don't. Having the likes of Willey, Payne and Luke Wood at this level is nonsense.
I don't have the information to hand but out of our squad, how many having been playing regularly recently? Brook was told to rest and Archer has been playing but I'm not sure if the others have been in the Big Bash or the SA T20 competitions.
My point is that you can't just rock up in a foreign country for a short 3 match series and expect to turn the opposition over. I'm surprised the first two games were so close.
This side is effectively a 'B' side but even so why only pick 5 batters with 3 all-rounders and 3 bowlers.
One of the best ODI batters in the world is sitting in the dressing room. Is Root injured?
