I mean that Pep Guardiola, who'd have appointed him for his first job, eh? Couldn't even win the Spanish League 2 with Barcelona B team but got given the managers job a year later. They must have been mad, an absolute nobody in managerial terms... He then proceeded to sell most of the star players in his 1st off season. Sheer lunacy. Crazy appointment. He must have got lucky winning the treble in his first year...
For clarification, I am not saying Lage is anything comparable to Pep, but managers arrive at success following different paths, some less expected than others. To say Lage will fail based on his track record is asinine, there just isn't any evidence to support it. The contrary in fact. Comparing him to Saunders is even more asinine, as Saunders had a consistent record of failure and idiocy.
What will be the outcome for Bruno Lage? We don't know, we just have to embrace finding out. I hope he's closer to Pep than to Saunders, but I don't expect him to be a massive drop off from Nuno in all honesty, and you never know, we might actually produce a few games of entertaining, attacking football.
