6 goals in 15 appearances. Nine of them off the bench. Not bad, is it?

I was against bringing him back because I had reservations about his general play. And most of the time, it still isn't very good. He's had some truly awful games for us in this spell. But he has shown some small signs of it improving (he was very good on Saturday, albeit against rotten opposition) and well, he gets goals. He'd definitely have a point to prove in the Premier League. Nuno talked a few weeks ago of him "improving" so I think he is trying to turn him into a more rounded footballer without losing that instinct for the ball in behind and the one on one finish.

Let's say it's a £9m outlay in the summer - £10m less the £1m we paid to loan him. Wages are going to be around standard for a bottom half PL striker. Yes or no?

I really don't know. I don't think I will be fussed either way. If Nuno thinks he adds something to a Premier League striker force, that is good enough for me #fencesitter

I've gone for no FWIW. I just don't see him improving enough to step up to where we want to go. If 40 points and 17th place were the limits of our aims in 2018/19, then let's do it. As it is, I think we can spend that money more wisely.

I won't be devastated if we do sign him though.

No from me. He can certainly finish but I just don’t think he’s Prem quality and that’s one place we’ll really need it.

As i, admittedly, would have driven Coady and Doherty to their transfer destination a while back, my scouting knowledge is to say the least limited, I'm saying yes, but what do I know :)

Yes for me - we need a sub striker and his pace stretches games - plus he’s improved already since he came back and I reckon our coaching staff could do a lot with him over a pre season.

Yes from me. I think he would be very useful off the bench, we have seen signs of that recently. I would hope that we upgrade on both Leo and Benik thi Summer, but I would keep Benik as back up. Not so sure about Leo.

I've said yes, as long as he knows he's not the first choice we need.

As a largely second choice, change of pace forward, though, you could do a lot worse for 8 - 10 million, IMO.

I would take him on loan again during the summer and make a final decision next January giving us time to evaluate him at Premier league level.

Going for a no but it's 51/49. The thing that tips it is that he didn't cut it with Bournemouth and they played more to his strengths. I won't be upset however if he does come. There aren't many strikers here. I think Leo has blown it and I think that centre forward will be our marquee signing this summer and it won't be Afobe.

Bournemouth aren't going to go for that though if a Championship club (a newly relegated one, for instance) wants to pay £10m for him, which they probably would.

Its for all parties to sit down and work something out. I wouldn't want Wolves spending 10 million without proof he can hack it within our system at Premier league level.

The discussion would go like this:

"We want £10m for him, he has no real future here, you're getting a discount as you've already paid us a bit of money, yes or no?"

"We're not sure, how about another six month trial where we do nothing but pay his wages?"

"No, I think we'll sell him as there will be plenty of takers at that price, even if they aren't in the Premier League"

And we don't get him.

Besides which we can only have two loans next season. I think we'll want those slots filled by Jota/Boly types.

I wonder how many he would have bagged if we'd had him all season. But then, would we have been able to play the way we do?

I think we're facing the same question Bournemouth were. Clearly he can do it in the championship but is still unproven in the prem.

He wants to sign and play for us which is worth something.

£10m is small change for a forward in the Prem these days. Consider that West Ham paid £10.2m for Jordan Hugill, who has played a grand total of 22 fucking minutes in the league since signing there.

I think it's at least safe to say that Afobe for 10m is a far better value than that (a bit of an extreme example, granted, but that's the market at the moment).

I think much could depend on Afobe himself and his belief in his ability to prove himself Premier league quality at Wolves. If that means another loan period he could be likely persuaded by Nuno to take it.

I’d sign him. Will be useful in the squad and may improve. However the main reason is we don’t actually own a striker. We could sign 2 strikers for £30m each but if one of them flops then we are a bit stuck. At least If we have Afobe we have some kind of option as he knows the club, the players, the league, the area, the language etc and we can be pretty confident we’d get at least 6/10 from him. It’s also not really a risk at £10m as Jordan Rhodes is still getting signed for similar fees despite being old, shit and terrible in the PL

Yeah, but it's not down to Benik Afobe or Wolves.

I don't think Bournemouth want to endlessly loan out assets they can get money for, why would they? They aren't going to get any more cash in the long run, they'll sell him this summer. There is zero benefit to them loaning him again.

Benik has proven what we already knew, he's a decent playing off the shoulder Championship centre forward. His back to goal touch remains poor and I don't think he'll be able to link play the way we will need him to. As a chase the game option he'd be ok, but I'm not convinced we'll be spending the £100m+ others think we will and if that is the case £9m is a lot to not improve your first 11. It's a no from me, but as long as we sign another top option as well I wouldn't be gutted if we do.

Yes. Decent back up to the monster striker(s?) we will also sign. And I firmly believe we will be spending a LOT more than £100m
