The Advice Thread

Majors in bilston has a good rep, the chippy behind Wednesfield church, and ashma bottom shops are good as well
Exactly what is an Asthma Bottom shop?

You have fell into odd local lingo zone.

Presume it means the shops at the bottom of Ashmore (area just outside of Wolverhampton)

Chips that are orange.
What are they made from? Why are they Orange?
If you leave chips in the fryer (And I wish they would) they go brown then browner...
What makes them orange? You don't mean sweet potato ones do you?

I do not.

They're fried in batter.

Anybody have any advice/experience of working for/under umbrella companies?

Have a freelance job that needs to be paid via an Umbrella company and have been recommended 2 by my agency (Crest Plus and Parasol) and wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Thanks
Jack
I'm guessing this is something to do with being inside IR35?

One of the guys who used to do some work for the place I work at used Parasol and he rated them.

Yea local lingo,
Should have said the chip shop on the shopping parade near to the Ashmore inn, on the Ashmore Park estate.
The estate is quite large, there’s a row of shops at one end of the estate (top shops) and the bigger parade at the other, bit of a hill between the two, so they become top and bottom shops.
Ashmore park always just becomes ashma, so becomes ‘Im ashma aye i’ when anyone asks ‘I say young man, where do you come from?’

Lush aye they

Sorry, I misread it as that awful condition where people have trouble breathing...
Thanks for the information.
But the only knowledge I have of the suburbs of Wolverhampton was when I actually looked like my avatar, and on waiting for a train back to Stockport after a game, I met a girl called Karen who had terrific knockers and her mum and dad had a chip shop in Tettenhall...

I was taking the piss a bit with the explanation, you just always just assume people know this stuff about the area local to where you live

Whenever I have to explain orange chips to folk not from around the Midlands they're usually agog. I can't eat non battered chip shop chips any more (or ghost chips as I like to call them) as they're universally terrible.

Cannock Road fish bar has been taken over recently and they now do a pretty mean orange chip.

Many, many years ago the ones from the chippie on the Wrens Nest estate were exceptional, although you took your life into your hands if you went there without a local escort.
