The 2014/15 Promotion Push Run-In Thread

As I said the top teams will take points off each other but we should only worry about who we face and let the rest take their own course. 7 wins guys and girls and we are in the playoffs regardless of who they are against would be a bet I would put a fair few quid on.

Bournemouth 2-0 up, not surprising. Tomorrow I expect Derby and Norwich to win but I think Forest could beat Boro. Hopefully we'll win and Ipswich/Brentford will be a draw and keep things nice and close.

Good hope they win. Its sixth place we are chasing. Meet Bournemouth in the play offs and pay them back for their league double

5-1 - let's hope we can replicate that sort of result

The real quality at the moment is Derby Norwich Bora and Bournemouth with Norwich and Derby my favourites. Watford win lots but lose plenty. A Bit Forrest Gump- you never know what youre gonna get. Brentford have surprised many and have got over their stutter but I really think there is another dip due for them as I think will befall Ipswich to who appear to be hitting the wall. We need to keep claer of imnjuries and suspensions as that could cost us too ( remember remember that Poxy November). Start with a win today against Watford please

Everybody goes on about November, and it was an awful set of results, but to me the loss to Reading and the draw with Charlton cost us a vital and unexpected 5 points that would have put us right in the mix.

We must ensure that is not repeated as well as trying hard to gain points off the teams above us esp. when we play at home.

My previous posts agree with this sentiment but given it all I would have taken the number of points we have now from the games we played at the start of the season. Just hoping we have enough in the tank and the squad for a final push. There is no such thing as a bad time to get promoted

It's the draws vs Millwall (A), Wigan (H) and Blackpool (A) which piss me off, along with the 1-0 loss to Rotherham at the start of the season. That's the difference between us and Boro/Derby/Watford/B'mouth.

Home draws to Brighton and charlton. And home defeats to Reading, Huddersfield and Forest when they were utter wank don't help either.

But I guess it can be balanced by the fact we've won some games we didn't deserve to

1 point out of the 6 most important points of the season is giving us to big a task now. See you later Sako, was a pleasure watching you play :(

You'll be able to watch him next Saturday against Brighton & Hove if you want, as there is no way that red card will be upheld.

The other results this week have meant that we still have a decent chance, really. Time yet to sneak into the playoffs.

We have nothing to lose from where we are - those above may be trying to protect their place.

Whether we finish 7th or lower (& we are not going to get relegated and almost mathematically impossible now) is irrelevant so may as well go for it & see what happens. Seemed to be the way we wanted to play today as most of the defence were making significant forward runs

Think you can always point to games where you should have got more points - look at Derby yesterday. Where I think we have really screwed up this season is in not getting a proper no 10. Here we are after 36 games and we're giving James Henry a shot - KJ simply hasn't sorted out this crucial position. Where would we have been in the table with a player like Vossen or Alex Pritchard?

What's achievable? You'd say the top 5 are out of reach but a lot of them have to play each other.

Do we cling to the hope of 6th and hope Ipswich lose to Boro?

Wouldn't say that the top 5 are out of reach - we have nothing to lose by going for it and will be seen by others as outsiders.

Nerves will kick in for the others given how close they are to each other & there are games between that group which will greatly affect current positions.

We are not going down, but if we are to challenge need a 2/3/4 game winning run soon to put us in contention.

Looking at Deutsch's stats on the points needed to finish 6th, I reckon we'll need 78 points. So...

Wins against - Brighton SWFC Leeds Blues Wigan Millwall
Draw with - Ipswich, Derby
Lose to - Forest and M/bro

If we get 78 and fail to make the play-offs then we'll be significantly unlucky. But 76 or under and I think we've had it

I would take 76 points in a heart beat and see where it leaves us.
