The 12 Days of Christmas Tat: A Festive Blog Series

I'm a freelance translator and proofreader but I'd much rather do this for a living (either that or SLA moves his company 150 miles north and employs me).

I dunno, I like the independence I have at the moment. We talked on my feedback thread about monetising the blog at some point which is an option. But we'll see.

Hmm... Do you drink?

It's uncanny. I've basically watched that series instead of doing any proper management training.

Back on topic. I've enjoyed this series of blogs immensely. And so much potential for future brutal takedowns.

Ah sorry, don't think I'd seen the feedback thread. But I'd definitely say go for it, and maybe look into it a bit more at least. Fire a few interesting pitches to preferred sites/outlets along with what you have, and it could be the start of building up a portfolio of your own at whatever pace you prefer. I supplement my income with freelance writing for a few science communication outlets, and it works really well for me - can just do a bit here and there when I have the time and/or brain-energy. It could work for you too in a similar way without completely committing to anything.

I don't really know what options there would be for sports-related writing, but I'd imagine there are plenty of opportunities for paid features in the footballing world on various sites and magazines.

Johnson is a shoe-in. Corica would be one for me. Tony Daley is another waste of money, signed for over £1m and played about 10 games during his time here
Daley was all about the injuries though. In the odd game he played relatively injury free he was a good player. He destroyed Derby at Molineux for example.

He ended up with an odd gait mind - not so much running as limping really really quickly.

I would also be surprised to see Silas in there - victim of the Dave Jones Brain Trust.

I can't find the feedback thread but here goes anyway :)

There is a lot of great content on the site which isn't easy to find. I think a re-organisation might be a good idea (i.e. Headings of Match Reports, Politics, etc) so that the navigation is presented at the top of the page rather than along the side. The links for sharing on Social Media might be better down the side to make it easier for folk to share to the masses rather than at the bottom of the article. I'm not sure what WordPress gives you from a CMS point of view though

You mistake me for someone who knows what they're doing :)

I went with the default that WordPress gave me and have never even looked at anything else. This series probably needs boxing up on its own when it's all done.

I probably need to spend a few hours seeing what I can do with it.

You need to get off your arse and give us the next instalment !!!

Jesus Christ, the state of the England team in that photo!

Awesome, isn't it :icon_lol: Let it never be said that Taylor didn't have a clue what he was doing.

Props to Trips for guessing this one, don't think anyone else did.

I for one assumed that (as you mention) it wasnt a simple case of we bought someone shit - more a case of bad judgement, through no fault of Daley's.

He's got to go on really because if you're spending that level of money in 1994, then you'd better make sure it works out. And it's never going to work out if more qualified people than you are telling you that it's not a good idea.

A shame, he's not a JOH/Doumbia style wasteman, but as I say, this isn't "Dan Hates X". Although conveniently I do hate most of these players.

I'll not have a bad word said about Andy Sinton at Wolves. Well, apart from extending his contract into a third year. He was ace for 18 months.

I was a fan of Andy Sinton. Just not as part of an England midfield consisting of him, David Batty, Carlton Palmer and Tony Daley!

Deutsch - you are going to have to stop posting each day till you have put up the next instalment.

Every time I see your name as the last poster have to click on the thread to see who has had your vitriol poured on them this time - incredibly dissapointing when its just some random comment  (even when I'm not logged in this site is live so it will be seen)

I think Batty was playing at RB! Neil Webb is there too so he makes up the four in midfield.

When people say "they've never seen a worse England team" these days then they're either too young to remember the Taylor days or wilfully ignorant.

If people ask questions then I've got to answer them...

It's an interactive experience :D

True enough - and I know that you are a friendly soul who will always answer reasonable questions. Just a cross I will have to bear :)

As to it being an interactive experience it would have been better if we hadn't interacted with any on your list!
