Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

The body was cold in November.

I can’t begrudge any of them wanting to leave.

Fuck that.

They've drawn millions out of this club since November.

More than any of them ever did in 11/12.

I've just given up caring about any of them,* dont really hate any of them just be glad when all the ones that want to go or we dont want, have all gone. Obviously there will some dross left here hopefully they'll go too eventually.
I've no confidence we'll come back up any time soon so I've resigned myelf to the Championship for the foreseeable. My only hope is we sign a few players I can get begind and who make me want to go to Molineux.

*saddens me to say that about Joao, always liked him, enjoyed his enthusiasm, effort and his quality such as it is, but he's not exactly scintillating and we'll get decent money for him so best he leaves.

I cant believe David Moller Wolfe is on £50k and potentially £70k...

Why are we handing out these contracts? no one else wanted him and I doubt he was on more than £15k at AZ, probably more like £10k. 400%+ increase for...
That's the thing that smacks you in the face when you see the accounts. We are paying more for less than we were when we were good.

Thats the year before though. Cunha stupid bonus, Sarabia on mega money, christ knows what we were paying Agbadou and Munetsi. Andre and Johnstone will have come in on healthy sums, one an outrageous amount for a backup GK who has offered no more than Bentley would have (probably less as Bentley turns up).

If were still paying similar amounts in 25/26 desite getting rid of Cunha, Semedo, Sarabia, Fabio, Guedes, (Munetsi, Agbadou and JSL for half a season - despite the latters unneccessary rise!), then we have a massive issue. Comfortably £40m of annual salaries there and wouldn't be remotely surprised if it was £50m. But some of those players justified / we know why they were on big money. Arias, Lopez, Wolfe, Jackson, Tolu and Krejci would have been on fuck all at their old club so there is no reason to be on big money based on either existing contract or ability. Which makes the Moller Wolfe deal more bizarre as you thought we were missing out on good players being stingey but then end up paying average players double what Brighton or Brentford would.

We weren't missing out on players because we were being stingy, we were missing out on them because we didn’t have a positive vision. How do you sell actively wanting to finish 4th from bottom or if you want trophies this isn't the club for you?

We offered Semedo £125k per week for 3 years.

I know I am banned from Johnstone talk, but he is the poster child of this point and more for me. So many people were blinded by their dislike of Sa they were supporting the move at the time as a 'marginal' upgrade as had made up an idea of what Johnstone could be, even though all his evidence and stats showed that not to be the case.

When he was first linked the previous season by Gold Flag I highlighted it as a terrible move and suggested we instead look at Henderson or a better keeper and he replied "We aren't spending 20m on a keeper." I get its a personal thing for me but that was hugely disappointing to read that was how the club seemingly now viewed such a key area.

The club/scouting seemed to sway from not wanting to be competitive with such key areas, to then spending millions total on weird youth/dev products too.

A marginal upgrade on Sa should not have been the target given his play and standard, and I feel the replacement of Wolfe and JT are similar schools of thinking from the club, in that they were never really trying to replace what was there. Just a sort of 'good enough' lower variant.

We would have been a better fit for Ramsdale than Newcastle given his penchant for getting relegated

Just spotted rumor about Nasser Djiga, and honestly, it looks like a cracking piece of business if we pull it off. Apparently, we’ve got the edge over Rangers for his signature.

In my opinion, this is exactly the kind of recruitment we should be doing. Djiga is a beast—physical, dominant in the air, and he’s already shown he can handle top-level pressure in the Champions League with Red Star.

For a reasonable fee, this is a massive upgrade for our defensive depth. We’ve looked a bit thin at the back at times, and getting a young, hungry international who is ready to step up to the PL is a no-brainer. Much better value than overpaying for a 'proven' English name who would cost three times as much. Hopefully, Jeff Shi and the recruitment team get this over the line quickly before someone else jumps in.

Jeesh. Where is that info documented?

I know football is rife with players earning millions of pounds and it's grotesque but to me it's unfathomable that Wolfe, the beigest of beige pricks is on that wage. We'd be overpaying on half that salary.
