Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

He’d be a decent player for the Championship squad. If he’s starting it’s a continuation of the downgrading that looks like the most likely path from everything I see. But it will be cheered on by people then perplexed (or maybe just weirdly content) that we’re an average Championship team. Obviously I expect him to be starting, as that’s where my expectations have been set.

Blues fans I've spoken to aren't bothered either way on Doyle which is pretty damning considering they are average at absolute best in the league we need to try and get out of. I think he's a reasonably good player technically but he's not got the pace or mobility to be a starter for a team looking for promotion I don't think.
He was for Sheff U, but they played a midfield 3 and in Berge and McAtee used players who complemented him / covered for his lack of mobility. He's another who we should be asking Edwards what his base formation is going to be and take it from there. If the answer is mainly a midfield 2 then move him on.

Speaking of McAtee he's someone we should see if there's something we can do, although I doubt he'd want to go back to the Championship. Signed in their Edu/Nuno power battle and only getting a few minutes here and there off the bench.

Doyle and Boub, natural replacements for Gomes and Andre next season. Wolves ay we.

Seems a no brainer to have him as a squad option next season, given we are going to lose key players in that area this summer.

I’d like to think we could sign a couple of better options to come into the starting 11 once Andre/Joao inevitably go and then Doyle is here as back up.

Could be the next Enso Gonzalez or Meritan Shabani, I hear

Maynor Figueroa's son apparently

Such is my faith in Wolves recruitment we'll probably get Clive Mendonca
One of the long, long, long list of players we should have signed in the 90s for relative buttons

Didn't even need scouting, they were ripping it up directly against us twice a year

Could probably make several XIs of them

I was only a wee slip of a lad in 1988/89 but even I could see that Chris Coleman and Robbie Earle were top class.

Matt Elliott when he played for Oxford, go and sign him immediately! We're playing Paul Blades at the back for God's sake.

Kevin Phillips for Watford. Would have saved us a lot of heartache.

Obviously, there's nothing good about being in League 1, but fuck it, you're good, we'll sign you was entertaining. Appreciate there's one very large error in that strategy.

I wanted Paul Simpson, Nathan Blake and Alex Rae years before we got them

Don Goodman too although realistically Albion wouldn't have sold him to us
