Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

While we are unlikely to be able to shift all of them but atm the only player nailed on to be here next season is Armstrong.
Likely to still be here maybe, Rodrigo, Tolu, Toti, Hugo.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Johnstone in goal, also Munetsi back in the squad.
We'll really need to sign quite a few quality players to push for promotion. It'll be all down to the recruitment team🫣 and how much cash Fosun will release.

Hugo will be off I reckon

I’m (un) lucky enough to regularly watch Watford through work/corporate and so I’m fairly well versed in championship football.

It’s shit. Diabolical. Crowds are awful, football is even worse.

The side we have now, despite how shit we are in the PL, is absolutely miles ahead of anything I’ve seen at Watford this year.

But, as we know, it’s going to be about who we lose and how we replace them.

All this shit I hear about how “it’ll be more fun in the championship “…….

I promise you. It fucking won’t be.

We’ve become solid at the back but going forward we’re still dreadful. We’ve ground out some decent results lately but I’ve no idea how we’d do when we get more of the ball. Our chance conversion rate at the moment is unsustainable and will revert to the mean. I don’t think the current side would score enough goals even against lesser opposition so it will all come down to who we bring in.

If you give Armstrong chances at that level he will score goals, he has proven that for close on a decade.

We do have very little creativity though. We don't own a single genuine wide player bar Enso Gonzalez who is as likely to play as I am.

Take Mané away, as seems probable, and the creativity level goes through the floor. The money is there to bring in the kind of players we need but we all know how poor our recruitment has been for years.
