Summer 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I think an early test for Edwards comes with Doherty.

Does he go down the nepotism route with someone he's known a long time and extend his contract or does he acknowledge he's done and send him on his way.

I don't think there's any footballing merit to him staying at 34 years old but I can see him staying and it being spun that there's been so many outgoings that he's a "leader" "knows the club" and and a host of other cliches.

Ideally what we need next season is a couple of frees who are demonstrably better than what as have and have an impact similar to that of Ruddy and Bennett.

No link/rumour at all. But Joe Gelhardt seems to have found his feet again. I thought he looked like a great prospect initially under Bielsa.

He’s only on loan at Hull. A reasonable target in the summer?

Good player but we've somehow managed to go from a team of mutants to one of the shortest, weakest teams in PL history in only one window. We need to be adding physicality really.

Speaking of (ex) Hull loanees, what happened to Fabio Carvalho? I always thought he had Wolves written all over him.

At Brentford, did his cruciate before Christmas

As has been said, everything will depend on who wants stay and who we think isnt good enough.
I think the players Spiers mentioned are probably good enough for the Championship providing we add some quality.
If we could keep Santi, Mosquera, maybe even Krejci (unlikely), Hugo, Roddy, Mane, Bellegarde, think that gives us a base alnog with Armstrong.
There's a lot of work for the recruitment team though.
Potentialky we could be looking for a keeper, RB, 3 CBs, 3 forwards.
The big issue will midfield. I do not want to be starting Traore, Bellegarde and Doyle as a midfield 3. Its a big ask to bring in 3 decent midfielders given our previous few windows.

Isn't he thought to have attitude issues? Only getting a minute or 2 off the bench before his injury

Problem is if your employer said they were cutting your salary in half, your first reaction would be to want to leave and try and keep the wage you were on. Apart from Armstrong and Mane that's the position everyone else is in. They are all going to want out if they can, just a matter of whether that opportunity is there and if it is who gets there first
