Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Think that somewhat misses the point. I doubt Targett, Wood and Burn will be in their first 11 in February, let alone in 2 years time. They recruited well in January to do what they needed to do with a manager who I didn't think was capable of it
Agree Tony, they spent a small fortune on dross (Guimaraes excepted) in the hope getting out of the bottom 3.
It worked spectacularly for them in terms of their excellent points return after the end of the January window which mirrored our pathetic points haul in the same period
The players you mentioned will probably be replaced in the summer tbh and Howe will get a handsome pay cheque and told to fuck off

It doesn’t miss the point.

The point is that, as we have found out, cracking the big 6 (let alone the big four) takes time and isn’t easy.

Ok Leicester did it but couldn’t sustain it.

It even took Man City a good few years to build their empire.

Yes, Newcastle have money but big players usually want instant success. Not many superstars buy into long term projects.

And let’s not forget that, geographically, they will have the same problem they’ve always had - Newcastle is not London or Manchester and most of it is a bit of a shit hole.

Not saying Newcastle won’t get there but it might not be the “given” that sone are expecting.

You were the one that brought up Matt Targett. They'll be Top 9 next year. We'll do very well to maintain our position.

I’m not convinced they will be. I agree with your assessment of our prospects though, unless recruitment is surprisingly good.

Apparently United are “preparing for a final push toward making a Neves bid”. I mean what the fuck does that actually MEAN??? Fuck all, that’s what. Either bid or stop briefing bollocks to your media pets.

If its Ekrem Konur then its complete bullshit, man just makes things up yet people hang on his word.

If its not Romano, Ornstein, Percy or one or two others then its almost certainly not true.

Percy isn’t exactly iron clad reliable. Tancredi is the one to look out for. Puts himself about as Romano levels of reliable and has a hit rate of about 0%.

Tbh Utd would be silly to not try to sign Neves, he’d walk into their midfield. I think that’s probably where he ends up, but maybe depends if Ten Hag thinks he fits in his system.

I’d send him to United as it means we might actually get a decent fee, that’s all I’m bothered about really, anything else is a bonus.

Spiers says they would have accepted £35m last summer. Which was after a down year where people wouldn’t have been queuing up. So with Man United interested and Arsenal having their “War chest”, and both needing a CM, then hopefully we should be able to get towards the £50m mark.

I can live with him going to one of the biggest (if not the biggest) clubs in the world. Arsenal would be too painful for me. Think I’d rather we get screwed by Barca than allow him to go there 😂

So they would have sold our best player and key to the team for the same price as a mainly unused sub who didn’t score last season. Either Spiers is wrong or the powers that be are more clueless than I imagined.
I suppose it would have been on a 5 year interest free loan too?

Well you need to ignore the Fabio fee as it was a, well you know what it was.

£35m was apparently what we were accepting for Jota and that only became £45m because of our flexibility in the payment structure. So benchmarking it against that then it’s not awful, even though we all knew he had way more to offer.

Double our investment in Jeff world

I don't really care where he goes, he will still be an ex Wolves player. I only care what he did for us, not what he does f9r anyone else.

Moutinho linked with Roma. Whether he stays or goes I can't really fathom why they didn't sort this during the season and left it to the point we are out now where his contract has expired.

I guess if both sides are entrenched in the length then it doesn't get sorted. You'd hope they could get to a play x and trigger an extra year compromise

Great work if so, fuck around over an extra year (we could just make him available for free in a year's time if he's not up to the PL any more and some Portuguese club would take him) and now we have to spend eight figures on a replacement who won't be as good.

Neves leaving I can take, he's been here longer than I thought he would be and he needs to go for the sake of his own career. Sad but I get it. Losing Moutinho for free when he wanted to stay is unforgiveable.

Yea, you’d think a man with vast knowledge of football from grass roots upwards, and a financial wizard like our Jeff would see it’s a no brainer to keep him, but Jeffs gotta Jeff

Everything beginning to point toward and absolute disaster over the next few months. Fucking hell. Established, as much as you can be, and we are going to fucking bin it off.

eSports will not fucking make up for even one jot of this you fucking imbeciles. We are a fucking football club, so start fucking running it like one.

The writing has been on the wall since the summer transfer window. Paper thin squad and pretty much no investment to support an incoming manager.

Shi and Sellars trying to think outside the box and getting done at every turn.
