Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Happy with the window, added some genuine quality to improve the first XI and got decent money for Donk and excellent money for Gibbs-White.

If we can move on Lage now please!

And also sort a new deal for Bonatini, it runs out next summer!

Very happy with this window. I love a punt on a youngster too!

I wonder if we might do something with Osorio & Perrone in the winter after the south American leagues finish

There was never a word at any stage on Ronan . Never a mention of a loan or possible sale . You'd have to assume that he was happy to stay and stated that as his preferred option - could be completely wrong , but there wasn't even a half rumour about him .

Turned out to be a very good window in the end.
There can only be one reason we didn`t sell Hwang.
Hope we can secure a Denayer deal.
Over to you Bruno, you`re out of excuses.

I need to find a new whipping boy now Donk`s gone.

is Leo that bad he can't get ahead of Hwang ? just asking.

The window is still open in some countries, Turkey for example, so he'll either go to one of those or be paid off

If they had a race from the dressing room to the pitch and the winner got to start, Leo would be getting out of the tunnel just as Hwang has his first poor touch of the game

Plenty of rumours at the start of the window. Mainly clubs like Aberdeen

Can't complain at that for a window, we've needed this for a while but we've improved the first team and in key areas.

Take your pick for the new whipping boy, seems Raul and Jonny are frontrunner.

Sorted the midfielder so I'm happy. Way better window than I was expecting. Still don't like the drop off to Toti from our main 2 CBs but even if they don't sign Denayer we've at least seen him play and he looked decent.

Mixed feelings about the window. On one hand, we have made some bigger signings than I was expecting and there is no doubt that our starting 11 has been improved which is something to get excited about. On the other hand, I can't help but feel we are still lacking in depth in midfield and possibly defence.

Attack - our options now look much better than they were. Guedes/Kalajdzic both look exciting and should be an improvement on Trincao/Silva from last season. We have also kept hold of Neto which is great. It's disappointing that we turned down the bid for Hwang though as we'll probably never get a chance to get our money back on him again.

Midfield - Nunes/Traore in to replace Donck/MGW. It is a shame that we have sold a good, home grown prospect but I can see why he went and we got very good money or him. Nunes should be an excellent signing and I never thought we'd get him. Keeping hold of Neves is a massive bonus too. The first choice midfield looks really good but we are still lacking in depth which has been the case ever since we got promoted really. Maybe Ronan can do a job here and there, who knows?

Defence - Coady/Boly/Saiss out and Collins in. Collins is a player a few people wanted us to sign so no complaints there. I would have liked another defender in as I haven't seen enough of Toti or Mosquera to know if they are good enough. Denayer on a free would be great.

Overall, it has been a surprisingly decent window but it still looks like we once again missed the chance to address our squad depth. Adding some good cheap youngsters like Osorio and Perrone would have been excellent but I suppose I'm being greedy! Maybe I should have more faith in our youngsters and we need to give some of them a chance at some point.

Just need to appoint a competent manager now!

The age of the purchases is 25 or below too, which means weve got a decent spine for a few years or lots of cash if they decide to move on.

What’s also good about the additions and the players we have moved on is that our squad no longer looks same-y or chocked full of players with similar attributes. Guedes offers something different, so does Traore (not always a good different) as do Neto and Podence. Sasa offers something different to Jimenez, our four midfielders all bring something different.

The reason our subs never made a fat lot of difference is we a) didn’t have any or b) the players were just too similar.

Not sure how different Guedes is to be honest. He looks like a wide player who doesn't score many and behaves like a fanny. We already have those.

'Squad depth' is such a red herring, why do people want to sign players to sit on our bench?

Injuries, suspensions, form, tiredness. No one wants to see a huge drop off when looking at the bench.

But there isn't a huge drop off.

If we have loads of injuries all at the same time then we'll be fucked won't we, like every club ever.

A player happy to be fourth choice is guaranteed to be a huge drop off anyway

You seen loads of Guedes DW? (Genuine question, not a dig) I've only seen him play for us and he doesn't seem a fanny to me, looks like he understands his defensive duties and isn't afraid to put in a tackle.
Whether we see enough from his attacking play remains to be seen. He already looks 500% better than Trincao.

I've seen him for Portugal and never been impressed.

I've not been keen for us either so far, very early days of course and we are set up appallingly.
