Summer 2022 Transfer Window

If he's not first choice which tbh I'm not convinced he won't be then Coady deserves a move to retain his England place. I know we joke about him being a cheerleader, but not even Southgate is going to pick him if he's not playing. Not what I'd do, but I'll be surprised if he doesn't start against Leeds even if it's a 4

Can't see Coady leaving at all. I'm not even convinced we are moving to a back 4. The friendlies will tell us more I suppose.

If we sign Collins - that leaves us with Coady , Kilman , Gomes , Boly , Mosquera and Collins . That's too many . Might have to send Mosquera out on loan - or perhaps sell one of them , the player perhaps who would command a decent fee .

It depends of course on whether or not we go with a back 4 . If we stick with a back 5 , then we would need two replacements on hand as part of the squad - but would we need three ?

Assuming Collins is a done deal then someone else will leave .

Collins essentially replaces Saiss in the squad? Wouldn't be trusting Boly or Mosquera as serious options as it stands, based on Boly's fitness record and the limited game time Mosquera has had

Coady can't play in a 4. Coady deserves to be playing football. Coady's value is around a career high. We need to sell players. I'll never want him to go, I absolutely love him, but it'd be the best for the club and for him.

I'd love to see him go abroad actually, could see it being really valuable for him and he'd be a good advert for English footballers. Accent aside, obvs!

I'm coming round to this view, even though it makes me feel sick to even think it. I get far too attached to individual players I think

I think this is about where I am: I'd not want him to leave on the basis he's a great ambassador for the club, but he would probably fetch upwards of £20m and another Premier League team would snap him up.

Watched a Collins highlights reel that is doing the rounds on Twitter and he looks Coady-esque (but better), particularly in terms of distribution from the back.

Selling Coady would be a massive mistake in my opinion. Would leave the dressing room rudderless under the current management. Coady holds that dressing room together and we've seen what happened before when the dressing room becomes toxic
I agree, there is no way they should even contemplate selling him this Summer.

I guess it depends how much he'll play in a WC year.

If we are moving to 4 at the back then he'd be best looking for a move. I'm sure there are teams out there who would love Coady.

Although I've just said above I agree with Dels post, I am concerned that would leave us with little experience at the back, with a potential 4 of Jonny-Collins-Kilman-RAN, who marshals the defence? Not sure Kilman has that in him, does Collins?

For Wolves it would be a disaster imo. When you hear managers talk about some of the key things that makes a team successful the dressing room is always a massive aspect that crops up and you only have to listen to other players and see some of the media the club put out to see how important Coady is to that. It's invaluable really, especially in a Summer where some other players that were good in that regard have left like Ruddy and Saiss and there is a relatively green head coach in post.

I'm not saying he should be kept around if he's never going to play but I don't think that's going to be the case anyway. We still don't know if we are going to be playing a back 4 this season and even then within that if we are going to play a back 4 in every game. There will definitely be a time where we need to make the transition and he will probably leave when that happens fully but I think Wolves need to be very careful in the way they go about it in this instance.

Yep, totally agree. He also gives us that option to go to a 5 if we need to.

I know there are many reasons as to why we think Coady can't play in a 4, but he IS adaptable, he's shown that with his move to sweeper, maybe he could do that again.

He got the armband on Saturday and I'm sure I read in some article that's he's more vocal than you'd think. Its a big risk though.

Coady doesn't marshal the defence now, it's something of a fallacy. He's a tremendous ambassador for the club off the pitch and no doubt in the dressing room. His on the pitch leadership is over blown though. Waving your arms around when we concede isn't organisation

Being a non-playing cheerleader at an international tournament that was beyond your wildest dreams is one thing, but doing it as a club level career just isn't viable I don't think. Even when we play five at the back, that big sweeping switch to a wingback isn't what we do anymore, so I just can't see as it's worth keeping him. It's a massive shame, I absolutely adore the bloke but keeping him around would either be wrong for him, wrong for us, or most likely both
