Summer 2021 transfer window

How long have you got?

- He's terrible at pop culture references and "jokes". If you can't do it, don't. Don't copy other people
- He's consistently wrong
- His take on Lambert out/Nuno in still annoys me
- His general knowledge of football is poor
- He still doesn't understand FFP or anything financial
- His tactical knowledge is worse
- His Twitter output is a disgrace

You look at other club writers on The Athletic and what we have for our club is a joke. Only Carl Anka is worse than him.

Still, good news on the Chocolate Oranges.

1. That's subjective though isn't it? I'm not keen, but it isn't a big deal, who is he copying?
2. Is he?
3. Why?
4. Is it? I mean compared to your good self, then yes, but in generally his knowledge is good isn't it?
5. Few people do, yourself and Kenny have very different interpretations on it for a start? One of you must be wrong.
6. Again, that's subjective, I've never heard/read anything he's said that suggests he has no tactical knowledge?
7. I don't agree with that at all? His frequency is good and he outputs what he knows in good faith, i don't understand why he gets criticised for that.

As said, he seems to get abuse when he says things that fans don't want to hear.

It's easy for us to say he is worse than other journalists at the Athletic, we aren't anywhere near as emotionally invested in the Arsenal correspondent for example, we are far more likely to take what he says as gospel. I just get the feeling that if Spiers said it was raining outside TWF would look out of the window and say, "no, actually it's drizzling".

On the Twitter thing, he seems to think saying stuff like "filth" is hilarious. No, it isn't. You're a journalist, settle down. He also thinks swearing is edgy. You're not James Dean, mate.

He isn't a very good writer is the long and the short of it. And no, I wouldn't want his job.

Really? I think that would be a great job, travelling all over the World watching Wolves and writing about them? I mean there are some downsides like having to put up with idiots on twitter, but it's a hell of a job, i'd love it.

I wouldn't want to have to write objectively about the club I love. Or have watching Wolves be "work". Matchdays would be a job rather than seeing my mates, having a few beers and watching the football.

It'd be rubbish.

The man on the Arsenal beat is a worthwhile comparison to Spiers, actually, because David Ornstein is one of the best in the business at what he does, and Spiers doesn't even remotely stack up.

He's also got a long track record of breaking transfer scoops ahead of time, whereas Spiers basically never reports on anything concretely until the deal's all-but complete, and he's got tacit permission from the club to fill people in.

I hark back to Saunders far more than is healthy, but there were two tacks our journalists could have taken.

1) Point out what a shambles this was and what a clown he was, on so many levels
2) Put the boot in after he was gone and the deed was done. But while he was there, say "he's doing as well as anyone else could"

Radio WM and the E&S chose number two.

Timbo is from the same school. I can't respect that.

You can stick me in the jealous camp although my criticisms of him are down to my own opinion on his writing/content more than anything else.

It reads to me like a piece that he has had to write in terms of submitting output. It offers no insight that we couldn't find elsewhere as has been demonstrated by the information regarding Ait Nouri and Vitinha on here.

Why’s he talking like Barca want him?!

Weird.

Mike McGrath says we have an interest in Tarkowski. Same article says we like the Fiorentina keeper

I wouldn't be surprised if he's become bored of living in the UK and wants to go back home to play football. Most content he puts out on social media is photos of family and friends back home. Don't know much about if he's settled in Wolverhampton or lives locally. I'd picture him living in a flash apartment in Brum.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a Pjanic/Arthur FFP 'fudge' if there is interest.
