Summer 2019 Transfer Thread

I mean, he completes the same percentage of his passes as Moutinho (and better than Ruben, too!) but hey ho.

He's basically the epitome if true defensive mid for me. Endless engine, safe passer, positionally sound, and can even play a good long ball when required.
Because he passes no more than 10 yards. Ruben is never going to light up pass completion stats when he's asked to play the diagonal like he does.

Actually, Gueye's long passing stats a quite good. Especially relative to the position.

I am leaning towards siding with Alan here. The step up to the PL can be a bit tricky, and it's by no means certain Gbamin will be an instant hit. Gueye looked like the glue in that Everton side to me, they might need some time to adapt.

He’d be an excellent signing - I’d rather Bruno Fernandes though, not sure Utd, spurs or arsenal will be in for him.

Let's say we sign Rugani. Are we going to replace Coady and go Rugani - Vallejo - Boly? Every player can be upgraded but I think CC brings so much more to the team than just playing ability

I'd be a bit surprised to see us go for another CB. We have 4 and that's not including Kilman or Saiss who could play there in an emergency.

Vallejo is a leader. Captained Zaragoza at 17/18 and captained Spain U21s to the European Championship this summer.

Can't see us taking the captaincy off Coady - he was one of our best players last season and is clearly the leader of the squad. Especially not to give it to a guy who won't be here next season.

We might actually give Coady a games rest or two this season though.

Kilman is a boy, Saïss could leave and I'm not really convinced by him st CB anyway. Plus, Coady can't play every minute of every competition again like he did last year.

If we want to progress in the league and fight in Europa then 5 into 3 makes sense to me.

Boly Coady/Vallejo Rugani/Bennett

That's a top class back line.

I'm not saying take the captaincy away.

I'm saying that if Vallejo starts ahead of Coady we might not miss him as much as you think we might.

When Coady is on the bench (like I said, he can't play every minute of every game again) give the armband to Rui, Moutinho or Neves.

Coady won't lose his place unless he absolutely needs a rest.

Vallejo, Boly and Rugani would compete for the other two spots.

Boly will and should be the first name on the list, streets ahead of Bennett and coady

Added to this Nuno has said he likes to build from the back and that would be a better defensive unit than everybody bar Liverpool IMO. One more superstar in an attacking midfield and I think people might actually take us seriously as a top 6 team.

If we can get a Rugani or Dias at good money we should go for it. Jesus isn't our player, he's a young lad and would still get plenty of game time as 4th choice for any of the back three.

I don't think Coady gets dropped, not only would it be very difficult to find someone who can read the game and distribute the ball as good as him from that position, he talks some of the other players through games at times. As good as Boly is he does have moments where he loses concentration and there was an interview a while back where it was said Coady mitigates some of this by constantly talking to him on the pitch. Boly for me is one of the best CB's in the Premier League, if Rugani came in you'd expect him to slot in at RCB. Would Vallejo be happy to spend a season here on loan only playing here and there in cups and maybe some games in the Europa league group? I'd still not write Bennett off winning that place in the 11 either.

If a top class CB that we cant refuse becomes available fair enough but I think the attacking midfield position has to be absolute priority before Thursday.

Any player with world class potential that becomes available we should go for it, regardless of position. Dias and rugani both fit this, although rugani hasnt developed as well everyone though hes had ridiculous competition at juve

Rugani is quite slow, but reads the game brilliantly. Quite clearly an obvious step up on Bennett.

I'm surprised Juve would be letting Rugani go. I thought he'd more or less broken through last season.
