Ref blows for half time when we’re clean through and gets a well deserved booing from the fans as he walks off.
would never have happened one of the bigger teams

Trincao isn't good enough to contribute so little when we don't have the ball

He's done well for saying it's his first ever game. Not let anyone get past down the side of him and got stuck in well.
He's been really good, IMO. Kept Broja quiet and still allowed RAN to bomb forward constantly.

I'm very impressed with him. Had a couple of mental lapses (conceding that corner near the end when Raul would have been able to clear up the pitch, for example), but otherwise not out of place at all.

Entertaining half against a very much improved opposition. Toti looks…fine. Sa brilliant.
The ref does eat farts though

How has he blown for half time there?!!

Weird game. Had little spells but don't think we've completely got going, but individuals having good games. Best Raul has played for a while, he looks a bit more well rested. Tough gig against three centre backs too. Trincao and Podence dangerous but not created enough Trincao is frustrating, he could be soooo good but just isn't quite there yet. So talented though. Joao has been excellent too.

Back three been good, Toti's mobility helping him out which am not used to this season ha. Great save by Sa but how did he miss?

Sa doing alright 😂

Southampton can consider themselves unlucky to be behind. Decent game for a neutral. Shame I am not one .

We are world class at halting our own momentum when we get to the opposition box though.

i wonder how we would look with a watkins, wilson or ings though

I think we've been 2nd best generally and Jose Sa has kept it at 1-0. We're losing the midfield battle with Donk contributing the square root of fuck all apart from one long pass. Toti has done well, certainly better than Marcal was there last week. Not sure why it took so long to give the penalty, it was a stonewall! Referee has been an absolute wanker though, gives them a free kick every time a Wolves player farts near them, has given us nothing apart from the penalty which he tried to avoid giving anyway.

Which someone would tell Wolves that central midfielders are allowed to turn around and face forwards when they receive the ball, it doesn't have to just go back in the direction it came from.
Harsh on Joao who's skipped past players on a couple of occasions and gone forwards. Donck only plays forwards with lots of time and space but we knew that already

as much as i love Pod as a player, he's a right drama queen - some of the 'fouls' against him and he goes down poleaxed !!!

Be interesting to see how Bruno adapts to their midfield set up. When Redmond drops in they've almost got a diamond making it tough for our two. I'd be getting the forwards in narrower, try and push the whole team up slightly though.

Not the most convincing of stats. They've spent plenty of time around our box, had lots of corners, and put plenty of crosses in. But we've defended well as usual and Sa has made a couple of good saves.

We are definitely missing Neves in the middle but Donk is doing ok. Trincao really needs to get a bit more physical and put his foot in a bit and use his shoulders. Traore will be on soon for him IMO.

Southampton getting away with murder in their supposed tackling, but we have to stifle romeu and Redmondor in midfield.
Toti doing well, and trincao having one of his better games, need more snap from donk this half and a half decent ref wouldn't go amiss.

Donk is occupying space but that's about it.

He doesn't do anything atrocious and he's safe with the ball but he doesn't really add anything.

How unlucky is the penalty for them by the way. Gets his foot trapped in the ground trying to clear it and misses it!

Don't buy that, it was a double movement, first to the ball and second took his legs, thought it was right

It was mainly driven by the two times Dendoncker got it just before the break but he's not the only one that struggles with this task so I didn't want to single him out as such.

First one he got it from the right and let it run across him to half turn on it, Southampton forward drops back a bit to close him down and rather than turn away to carry it forward into a massive space he just laid it back to Gomes. Then he shows for the return from Gomes, massive gap still ahead of him but he's completely square facing his own goal and not brave enough to take a touch to look around him so just played it straight back again.

It wasn't even a case of not backing himself to turn away from pressure or beat man in those instances, more like a complete ignorance of any sort of forward thinking responsibility.

Good game to watch, fast and open. We're lucky to be winning in truth.
Whilst the ref has been crap (particularly for us) we don't help ourselves by rolling around like we've been poleaxed when we quite obviously haven't been.
Sa brilliant so far.
