Southampton (A) 13.04.2019

I think we will see Rui and Bennett come in

Hopefully our response it to take the game to Southampton and give it a good go. We are capable of winning the next three games, definitely.

Southampton to win this one. Its the wrong time to be playing them I fear. 2 0 loss.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Donck dropped, think he may be a bit emotionally fragile right now. Guess Nuno will see and assess during training this week.

If Donk is dropped I'd rather see MGW brought in rather than Saiss to midfield.

I doubt Donck will be dropped, Nuno will put his arm round him and drag him through it. He’ll come back stronger, he’s made such a difference since he’s come into the side it would be rough to drop him after one bad game, however big the game was. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start.

If Nuno stops our season from drifting away after yesterday it will be on a par with anything else he's achieved since he's been here.

I'd make a few changes, some in light of yesterday some for the particular opponent.

Rui in for Ruddy
Vinagre in for Jonny
Bennett in for Dendoncker (Saiss into DM)

Might even go as far as Traore for Doc in a similar vein to the Cardiff game. MGW I see as the advanced midfielder competing with Moutinho rather than alongside Neves.

I hope that is the case. He's made the difference in the second half of the season

Agree, I am finding it difficult to pick myself up after that and I was just watching it!

Unless Donck is not at all in the right frame of mind then I hope he starts again, give him a chance to bounce back.

Thought Soton looked pretty good against Liverpool, organised and Redmond was a real livewire. Bad time to play them but you could probably say that about whoever we played next. Would take a draw but think they will beat us.

Depends on our reaction.

We either crumble or we say "right - fuck this for a game of soldiers" and go and make ourselves feel better by winning a few league matches.

Lets hope it is the latter.

Having someone like Moutinho in the squad will surely go a long way toward helping us heal from yesterday. You can't replicate the things he can teach based on experience.

I would like Vinagre to play as Jonny slows it down too much for me at the moment. Although he is probably a better defender.

I trust Nuno and this squad to compete til the end this season. We will want to finish as high as possible what with the financial incentive too, and especially now we are out of the FA Cup. The application last Wednesday when we had a semi final to look forward to was spot on. Nuno won't let the standards drop IMO.

Maybe. I think Nuno will want to stick by him ,especially as he has been integral to our second half of the season form.

I wouldn't be averse to Gibbs-White getting a run of games at this point. I think he is still good enough to come in and make a positive impact whilst gaining vital experience. I disagree with those who think he should be loaned out - it's a total lottery and I don't think we are especially good at getting players good clubs to go to.

Dendockers appearance will depend on Nuno's assessment of his mental state after yesterday. Would hope that he can overcome it (as he must if he's going to have a good football career as games like that will happen), but would be happy with changes if Nuno feels he needs time to absorb this.

This is a game I would play Vinagre in. Patricio & Bennett will be back. Wouldn't make any other changes (though would consider MGW for the Moutinho role if Sunday took a lot out of him)

I'd play exactly the same team. Give them all a chance to go out there and put it behind them.

This team isn't the likes of Ferguson, Osborne, Corica, Halford et al

I'm a little concerned that it might disintegrate altogether - it's happened to better sides than ours - but this team has surprised me (in a good way) on several occasions already this season. Let's see what Nuno and the lads have got left in the tank.

Every time we lost last season we followed it up with a win. This season when we went on that 6 game winless streak (one draw and 5 losses I think) we've been able to recover. The team are made of stern stuff.

If they use this result and harness how they feel it can drive them on to achieve great things
