SACKED!!!

He's legions above Zenga who had only really ever managed Sampdoria of note, and that basically because he was a big name Italian player once upon a time. Porto, Olympiacos, Fenerbahçe and Flamengo are all far bigger jobs than anything Zenga had ever taken on.

This is 1860 Munich erasure. The disrespect man

Yeah we're back on that path again.

Don't think this is good news for Hobbs
The Mendes stuff is icky but I do think it's hard to argue that our years cozying up with him weren't more successful than our years trying to not use him as much.

Cant blame him for lining his pockets abroad for a decade, but he seems like he goes a bit crazy. He’ll get on with the squad they can all lose their shit together when we lose.

Whilst Vitor Pereira was known for his high pressing teams in the past, he has adjusted slightly to suit his players at Shanghai. Pereira is aware that his foreign contingent of Oscar, Hulk and Arnautović are best known for their attacking exploits. Therefore Pereira has formulated a system to minimise their workload and maximise their attacking output. Shanghai often play a five at the back when all three of the foreigners are available. Additionally, they will sit deeper for periods of the game, allowing the opponent to get higher up on the pitch.
From a very dubious, 5 year old source (link: Be prepared for a shade of pink even I find vile), but just the idea that he might actually adjust for his squad puts him way ahead of Gary.

He doesn't sound any better than GON tbh.
3 wins in 26, 2 clean sheets since January, over 100 goals conceded in under a season and a half, more set piece goals conceded than literally any other Premier League team at the same stage since 1992, you'd do well to be as bad or worse than that.

Winning multiple trophies abroad vs an extended caretaker spell at Bournemouth? Nuno also managed in Saudi, it doesn't necessarily mark out a bad coach.

I don't know much about him but the difference in credentials and experience is pretty stark. I'd rather gamble on someone like Pereira than O'Neil who was 100% taking us down.

Saunders took over a midtable team with the goal of making us challenge for the playoffs and got us relegated! I can't stand O'Neil but that idiot is leagues beyond anyone when it comes to the worst manager at Wolves.
As I said earlier, I'd still have all of these below him:

Lambert
Solbakken
McGhee
Hoddle
Zenga
Lage
Saunders

That is not an endorsement of Gary O'Neil

Totally agree, quite literally anything is better than GON at this moment in time.

The fact that I was resigned to Big Sam, and convincing myself that it might be a decent appointment, tells you all you need to know.

Looks alright to me. Vast CV, some success, foreign/Portuguese to fit our cosmopolitan squad, takes no shit, got a backroom team that he knows and trusts from many years, links to Mendes that may help with bringing in players in January.

From O'Neil to Pereira given our perilous position will do for me, let's see how it goes

I'm almost hesitant to say it, but I do wonder if his working with Chinese owners at Shanghai helped grease the wheels on this.

As said if he can change the attitude of the players and get them at least realising they’ve got some responsibility it’s a start.

I'd have him below Lambert, Solbakken, Hoddle, and even [spits] Lage, tbh. (McGee was before my time.) In spite of all of them having very, very obvious flaws as coaches, and as people, none of them ever struck me as quite so clueless and useless relative to the circumstances when they were at the club.

Purely in terms of Win%, Saunders is the only one to manage to be objectively worse within the last 40 years (not counting Terry Connor because that's just mean), which really is some going. What a hire by Morgan.
