21-0 at half time. Ireland seem to be killing their own momentum esp. as Russia are offside a lot.

It didn’t get better. Russia did well. Ireland were less than convincing. I think Japan will win that pool now because Scotland are rubbish.

Job done by Ireland, a win with a bonus. Not convincing but good enough.

All down to that last game between Japan and Scotland now, for me. Scotland lose and they go home.

I don't really follow Rugby (unless its to mock Paddy when Wales lose to some shite...)

Looking at the results, there have been some proper destructions and wondered if the smaller nations in the Rugby are looked at in the same way in the Football world cup and moans and groans when a small/not really a footballing Nation qualifies, gets whipped and sent back quickly and people constantly bang on about how they shouldn't be there its an elite tournament? All i have seen on Rugby is people praising the likes of New Zealand when they take apart someone like Canada rather than people saying Canada shouldn't be there

There is less of it. Some of the tier two nations are pretty good (Japan and Fiji for a start).

Trouble is games against New Zealand are pointless as the All Blacks are so ruthless. They never let up and you see some right canings handed out.

The only teams i would question the point of being here are Namibia and Russia. Namibia will definitely leak at least a ton against the All Blacks.

Italy have no answer to SA's driving maul. The loss of a prop is huge, it's not just scrums, it's defence in general.

Namibia and Russia are cannon fodder at the WC, but they have earned the right to be there by being the best in their particular qualifying areas.

To allow competition in new and developing rugby areas there has to be something to achieve.

Russia are only there because Romania and Spain both broke eligibility rules.

Uncontested scrums now, which will piss the Boks off with a dominant pack.

The Boks will have more lineouts and driving mauls now.
Italy had a poor first half, kicking the ball away too much.

I'm sure Romania and/or Spain wouldn't have been much better than Russia.

Hopefully participation in the world cup will generate more interest in the game in those countries. I can see the USA being a force in the future, and I feel there could be a similar response in Russia developing their own rugby leagues more.

Belguim as well were ahead of Russia but had an ineligable player.

Germany is the place they seem to be making a drive for, they got into the second tier last year of Europe and beat Rumania.

As for this game thats a clear red card as you wll ever see.
