Robins hanging on a bit at the end but a great result, always nice to beat the convicts.

The Robins were cooked and the Broncos have some great attacking options to exploit any gaps. I thought the Robins had blown it when Mikey Lewis failed to find touch from the penalty, but they dug in and came out worthy winners.

They started extremely well and resisted a monster Bronco comeback, which is something the Canberra Raiders, Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm all failed to do. Very impressive by Hull KR.

Good win for the Bulls against the Dragons.

Saints and Leigh game was good to watch and a win for the Saints.

York sadly lose.

A couple of pre-seasons in the NRL and this young gun is already being compared to Jonah Lomu and Israel Falou

I watched the first half. Wigan dominated Leigh (as the final score indicates). I didn't bother with the second as it had lost it's appeal to this neutral.

Dogs v St George was an excellent game in Vegas. Didn't see the Knights v Cowboys as I was busy, but glad I caught the second game.

I didn't watch any of the Vegas stuff this year. Firstly, Whinos were playing and secondly the NRL card wasn't that appealing tbf.

The best round one game looks to be Broncos v Panthers on Friday our time. Think it is Storm v Bunnies as well in this round, which should be good as the Bunnies squad looks decent this year.

What a result for Leeds, KR must have been running on empty after the WCC but even so, that's a worrying score line for them.

Leeds looking decent this year and with the new clubs appearing to look at home in the league, should be an interesting season

It was hard looking back on Vegas, as I was there last year with the family which was the culmination of an amazing year of watching Wigan lift all 4 trophies live. Suffering with Covid aside it was an amazing experience, roll on Paris this year for the game against Cat and a long weekend.

Interesting that there are noises the NRL are coming back in for SL, we really need this to help grow the game and move it out of control of the clubs. We really need to move away from the nepotism of Nigel Wood and try and grow the game. Everyone who I've managed to get to games or watch them have usually been impressed even some of the old die hard Union.

Interesting as to how and where we grow the game though. The south, using London as an example, has lots of ARL clubs, and there has been an on/off relationship promoting the pro-game down there for forty years or more. There have been 'dalliances' in Wales, SW England, NE England, and the Midlands.

Its always been a bit half arsed though hasn't it, I mean how many people know we have a Rugby League team in Brum (who are playing at Avery fields, which no disrespect is a grassroot Rugby Union club) London has moved more times than I care to remember

Hiding behind a paywall has not helped the game, raising the profile and therefore sponsorship opportunities will help more than seeding teams in locations with little infrastructure or even promotion.

I have family in Newcastle, not one of them knew what the Magic weekend was. There was no promotion of the game, nothing on the town.

The game at youth level has fairly good participation outside the heartlands, although it is has quite a different slant, more a summer Union camp.

It'll never displace Football or even Union, but there is a market for it and an untapped fan base. Its a genuinely exciting product that desperately needs exposure and not to be hidden away behind paywalls or the red button.

Hmmmm. It has been half arsed, but again the game had been and is struggling for investment. Irrespective of paywalls, Salford, Featherstone, Halifax are recent casualties of declining revenue (including Sky who are showing more for less), declining attendances ('sports' such as darts being more attractive), impotent governance, etc.

The Wahs taking a useful 16 point lead into the sheds after the first stanza against the Chooks.
