Ruben Neves

At least that article puts to bed "how are Wolves paying these Champion League Players" stuff from clubs that are paying Champion League players £60k a week...

Clearly the likes of Villa and Leeds think that Porto pay their young players obscene money

I thought it was a decent article and if their sources are correct then Neves has had a decent payrise for a 19 year old. It also shows that our youngsters are being paid obscene money for the quality of player they are at that point in their career.

Was surprised to see Ruben is on less than 25k per week. He's worth double that per week!

The media love to agitate, it makes them money and as fans we constantly fall into the trap. Its all very old news now with odd bits of random fresh information, nothing to see here.

I'd imagine he could be set for a pay rise this summer if he stays. Especially if there are other clubs sniffing around.

I bet we're paying Neves what Villa are paying Glenn Whelan.

That's why they're pissed off

How does €12500 after tax equate to £2500 in Sterling?

absolutely agree, + a bit more! i'd imagine an uplift on promotion would have been written into his contract anyway.

i can only reckon the complaints about salaries could have any merit if the player was being paid from another source as well as his wolves salary, so bypassing the rules. but why on earth would we do that, it's not as if we were in danger of breaching FFP this season. by the sound of it, the porto evidence suggests he wasn't on a ridiculous salary and had an uplift on transfer. so he's not taken a reduction to come here, which would have looked iffy.

we know it's just sabre rattling because we've won the league.

if these twats cared so much about money in football and how it destroys competition they should be voicing it about Champions league and Premier League cash. I don't remember cushion face ever showing concern about it when he was up there.

The funniest bit was

"Neves was offered to many Premier League Clubs and Championship clubs, however none were willing to meet the amount Porto Wanted DESPITE the low salary"
In other words Villa would rather pay 100,000 a week for a past it Terry than 20,000 a week on a young Neves how fucking funny is that

I read the article as being that he's now on €40-50k p/w with us?

€12,500 per month net = €150,000 per annum net

For us if four times increase = €600,000 per annum net = €11,500 per week net of tax

At the start of the season he was an unknown Portuguese kid who had good pedigree but hadn't been through the rigours of a full season - let alone in the championship

Most pundits derided his motives and abilities to cope in a rough and tough league. It's only now we see fucking good he is.

It says at the start of the article his salary is over £2.3m (45k p/w). Then later says he is under 25k p/w...

amid reports that the 21-year-old has been on an annual salary of more than £2.3million ($3.2 million)

That is what the likes of Leeds and Villa think he should be earning and cried to the EFL about

and then complained again when they found out he was on less than £25k per week while Villa were paying in excess of £100k for a 37 year old

Cheers lads. Why they felt the need to mix month and week in the same article?...

We will get stories like this all the way through to the end of the window (even at 10.59 on the last day) - we will give him an increase & if he has any sense then will stay with us at least at the start for him to see how he gets on (though I don't have any doubt that he will be a success). He seems to like being with us.

Jan window might be the more troubling if he has done the business up till then.

Neves will be with us all next season. At least.

Neves will move on eventually but I wouldnt rule out ie Liverpool signing him and then immediately loaning him back to wolves for season long loan. Suit both parties, Liverpool take him off the market and then let him develop.
