Rotherham (H) Build Up

Coady back, Iorfa plays one game well and then completely disappears again, Bright not even on the bench and fucking Edwards is still undroppable. Dicko gets a goal and assist and gets shoved back on the bench for 2 games. Centre backs and central midfielders are good pairings at least and Marshall has been decent for the last 2 games so hopefully we can get the 3 points.

I am completely baffled as to how Iorfa and Bright don't even make the 18

Weimann up front against a packed defence and no space to run into? And a game where our fullbacks should get a lot of opportunities to cross, and we pick coady and saville? Lambert better have something clever lined up, as that just looks stupid.

I don't understand when you have a must win game and an opposition who are going to offer little to nothing going forwards, why you'd play two full backs who can't offer anything offensively.

Strong competition to beat last week's pairing of the worst full back pairing I've ever seen.

Edwards still at #10.

Come on, Lambert. FFS.

I don't mind him playing Saville that much as Doherty is a bit shit but this is the kind of game where we could use his usefulness going forward. Coady coming back in to right back is a nonsense

As an optimistic and someone who genuinely wants to think positively this team makes me think: what the fuck?

No full backs and no striker. Brilliant.

Weimann was a striker pretty much exclusively during his Villa days, I thought? He's much better there than he is as a makeshift winger, from what I remember. I've no problem with him getting a game in a more natural position for him.

Not sure what to think here. Full backs are a bit unorthodox, but you could make the argument we should have at least one left footer on the left to maintain some width against a team likely to stay compact. Plus Iorfa's delivery is probably even worse than Coady's so as long as we're seeing a lot of possession it might not be an awful idea. We all knew Dave is starting, but I'm surprised and a bit annoyed that Dicko is left out. Surely there would be chances for him here. Still think we're winning.

He played 10 or left of a 3, not number 9. It's not what I've have done, but it's not as dopey as the full back choices

Weimann tended to play wide or off a target man. I don't think I've ever seen him up top on his own. One thing is for certain though we can't play long ball as we have nobody who can hold the ball up or challenge in the air. With Edwards at 10 I'm baffled as to where the creativity through the middle is going to come from. I don't think we'll be slinging many crosses in as Coady and Saville can't and Weimann is not really an aerial powerhouse

Seems a mess of a formation to me.

A must win game to.

Less perturbed by Saville being there as we have nothing any better, but why Coady in & Iorfa completely out of the match squad after 1 game - makes no sense at all.

As to Weimann playing up top - the others aren't scoring so not sure that it hurts us that much. Plus we played Zyro in that position once, don't think that was his natural position & seem to remember him scoring 2

I don't think it's my ideal line up but I think we have a very solid core

Majority of it I'm not too fussed by. Weimann not an out and out forward but against a team who will most likely defend I can live with it. Partnerships of Saiss/Price and Hause/Williamson are encouraging. Edwards still in the ten is an embarrassing selection as is Coady at right back really.

3 points please!!!!

Weimann deserves a go up top, just as Mason does again when he's fit. Bod & Dicko can have no complaints to at being dropped.

Dicko has scored and assisted in his last couple of games so I thought PL would play him. Likeyou said overall can't have that many complaints.

Edwards winner nailed on I reckon.
