Yeah thats my biggest fear for next season.
I've got low expectations of a promotion push tbh.

I know its probably the way we will go and need to go but to build a Championship team to gain promotion and then if successful, start all over again to build a Premier league team seems counter productive and a bit bonkers.

It's what 95% of promoted teams do. We were the outlier last time, not the norm

Its a fair point, Sunderland seem to have got it right, although they've fallen off a cliff a bit recently, next season will be the test for them.

Everything resets and players leave/ join.

Again... it's all about recruitment, having the right people and expertise.

We've had none of that, hence why we've been so appalling at it!

Oh yeah I agree with that but its seems quite a hard thing to do. Basher points out the Sunderland performance. Tbh I've not seen brilliant performances from them but they've done well. Next season will be the acid test for them.

Next season will be the acid test for them.

Can say this about any side that has relative success. But they've done really well THIS season, i don't think that should be dismissed even if they go down next season.

Xhaka was a great signing, short termist maybe, but thats what matters in the moment. Wolves haven't made enough, experienced 1 season, 2 season maybe signings in our time in the Prem. Probably only Dawson.

The result is a complete lack of leadership and experience as we've seen.

Also, we've sold our captain 4 (5?) seasons running haven't we? Absolutely criminal.

So... building a squad to compete in the Championship, win promotion, and hold your own in the Premier League is very viable... as long as you have the right people in recruitment.

Well thats the nub isnt it, don't think any of us trust the team in charge to get recruitment right. Its not like its a new thing for us, I mean they appear to have learned nothing over the last 4 or 5 seasons of gradual regression.

Of course we don’t. How anyone could watch Tchatchoua, Munetsi, Lopez and Tolu and think they’re mid- table PL standard defies belief. Every club makes mistakes in recruitment but ours has been unbelievably bad. Even with a highly regarded player like Arias it was clear that he didn’t have the strength or pace to succeed in the PL. In his case it was especially frustrating as we had no idea what position to play him in.

If it was an outlier of a window it would be bad enough but to go from where we were when Nuno left and get worse season on season to where we are now is why we're all so angry .

Lop’s January window was our last decent one. Cunha, Lemina, Sarabia and Dawson. He earns extra praise for then signing Kilman.
