As someone who instinctively dislikes him, and a pretty consistent critic, I’ve sat down at the end of a depressing weekend and concluded I’m being too soft on him. Out till late the night before a match that even fans are preparing for with more thought? Lamentable display to follow, hot on the heels of another lamentable display? Players getting stuck into each other but being put on the bench together? Complete lack of leadership? Self congratulating manner? It’s a disgraceful effort. FFS pot him and appoint some kind of professional.
Jeff definitely overestimated the affection Wolves fans have for him.
If it was Big George or Robbie Keane or something there might be more feeling for him.
As it is I imagine most fans were pretty Rob-neutral when he started, and I doubt he's improved that position with many since

Boro fans frothing at the mouth at Wolves for his treason was weird, when as above most Wolves fans were apathetic to his appointment at best. Things have panned out more or less as expected.
In his footballing guru mind he had Rob as a footballing God.
Got him a gig at Telford To kick-start his career
Offered him the role of club chosen coach that won't be sacked if the manager is
Spent money to get him back the club.
Jeff loved him and wanted him at the club. Thats all that mattered.

I don’t know. Let’s say in a post-Edwards world we hired an unemployed Teessider this summer. I know, so many to choose from. But I mean one last seen condemning a Championship side to a nasty relegation. With our support he then gets us in the top two. At which point, in the autumn, he ups and leaves to bloody Boro, patting his ‘proud to be from Teesside tattoo’, pining for the Eston Hills and a Parmo. While actually that’s just hugely convenient as he’s getting paid three or four times more and been told it doesn’t matter if he’s shit. I mean, we’d be pissed off too even if he’s a complete prick.
No fans like players and managers leaving, it’s natural. Most accept a player moving to a more successful club providing they do it the right way like Jota, but behave like Nunes or Cunha and they’re going to be very unpopular. Even with Jota some brain dead morons booed him, no doubt the same twats that sing “Sign on” - eEvery club has them. In REs case he left for a club destined for the Championship and was leaving a club that had given him a chance he probably didn’t deserve so it would be odd if the Smogheads were anything other than bitter.
Agree with both of the above, my point was more that many Boro fans were of the opinion we had smugly poached a manager from them when in fact most Wolves fans were - oh great, meh.
