Rob Edwards - the prodigal son returns

It is quite and achievement to have four RBs none of whom are fit for purpose. Even with Hoever out on loan was there any point in bringing Lima back if Edwards doesn’t think he is a better option than Doherty at RB? If Edwards wants to go to a back four we have Tchatchoua who would probably look better in a four than a five as at least he’d have a bit of an idea where he needs to be positioned.

It wasn’t the formation that lost us the game yesterday as we started well and it was brain fades from those that Edwards shouldn’t have picked that cost us. The set up of the 3 in midfield was wrong too and that’s something he can easily sort out but i get the feeling he will just go to back to 3 centre halves again as it’s the easy thing to do.

Doc should not be playing now unless we are playing a back 3 and one of the centre backs are injured. I never wanted to see Jackson play again but he is ok at right back with say Rodrigo in front of him or let’s just see what Pedro has got, he genuinely can’t be worse. Hugo can’t play left back(i don’t think he’s very good at lwb either), Neto rinsed him 4 or 5 times including in the build up to the first penalty and Wolfe is 100% a left back. Any of the centre backs are capable to a point.

Joao can not be the deepest of any midfield he plays in, he’s not disciplined enough off the ball and he doesn’t like to receive the ball off the centre backs facing his own goal, it was much better when Angel went there and Joao went to be an 8. I also think we need to get Mane further up the pitch, he can finish and makes things happen around the box. It’s pointless having him picking the ball up on the half way line most of the time.

I’m not sure Edwards has it in him either, i hope he has but i’d like to see something soon. Even on Wednesday, Forest are poor and i do think there’s enough in the squad to get something and then we have to win next Sunday.

Not so sure, he was 3 yds deeper than the rest of the defence for Burnley's winner playing him on

Jackson at least has the physical attributes to offer something even if he’s absolute miles off it in mental and technical. Doc is miles off it physically and then doesn’t exactly excel at the others either to remotely compensate

Definitely.

He’s picking up all the shit from elsewhere, granted - but no one forced him to play that personnel and formation yesterday.

He’s not doing himself any favours.

It’s been done to death but Hwang is fucking awful and - whatever you think Doherty is - he’s never been a RB inn flat four.

If he can’t see at least that, I’d get rid of him today personally.
Got the death stare from a couple of women in front of me yesterday when I questioned him continually picking Hwang.

If he had gone with a back 4 yesterday of,
Mosquera, Santi, Krejci, Wolfe, I could at least seen it as a worthwhile punt but the back line he picked seemed bizarre in the extreme.

A consideration for me though would be that João has all the offensive threat of an outfield goalkeeper so I wouldn't want to see him further forward either unless we're building the rest of the forward line around that

Also, Sa could very easily have got himself sent off yesterday the way they were throwing themselves around.

Given how quickly he reversed it, I do wonder whether going to 4 at the back was a way to introduce A.Gomes and Armstrong without dropping Hwang.

If he picks him on Wednesday then I'll be all the way out. He's only been here a few months, so he shouldn't have any favourites really, but it appears that one of them is Hwang and that is just so so damning.

Hwang looks that devoid of confidence now that even he seemed to want to take himself out of the firing line yesterday.

There was no obvious contact that looked enough to render him not able to wait until half time, but off he went.

I'd be really surprised if he is fit on Wednesday.

I hope the knock is nothing serious. Hopefully just misses around 13 or so games

He’s capable going forward but has lost all confidence when doing so and that’s part of the reason why i think he’s been poor this season. It’s part of why we’ve been so shit this season as we basically have had no attacking output in front or wide of Joao and Andre.

I've never thought of him as much cop in the opposition half even before this season, the odd vaguely rampaging run but not one to smash one in or even really set a teammate up with any regularity?

He can finish, we just very rarely get him in those positions

He seems to just completely scuff or drag his shot whenever he gets in the position - almost tries to hit it too hard.

Sunderland springs to mind, but plenty of other examples.

He's capable of creating but it's definitely not his best quality. He's quite skilful and can play some really nice attacking passes so I think managers have almost been fooled into thinking he can play further forward but if you're relying on him to create he's never going to be able to do it consistently.
